My thought is this. First, I agree with Wordie - why would one assume anything posted on the internet is true. But then I disagree with him. I don't think Bubba's post - or any other, for that matter - brings credibility to or takes credibility away from the board. If anyone lost credibility over that post, it would be Bubba - who already indicated he didn't care!

I guess I really don't understand why anybody's upset. Did something awful happen that I'm not aware of? Nobody died. Nobody lost their job. Nobody was even deported. The only people this affected were the readers of this board. Some might be embarrassed that they took it as fact, but upset? Come on, guys - let's not draw a dividing line because of this!

There's a big difference between HEARING a rumor (and seeking verification or discussion) and starting one just to see what happens.

You can't tell me that something like that doesn't impact credibility.

Credibility is a lot like respect. You might respect the hell out of someone that I think is an idiot. Likewise, someone may have high credibility in your book, but I know them to be a fake and liar. Yeah, he'll lose some credibility but I seriously doubt the whole board will. And Bubba don't care!!!

Rumors can be started so innocently - just as a statement taken out of context perhaps or a slip of a tongue that's overheard by someone else. I think we're blowing this a tad out of proportion. Bubba wanted to start something, which he did. The way in which he did it doesn't set well with you and some others, obviously. The way in which he did it doesn't affect me and some others.

It's kinda like the color blue. I see a sky-blue and you see pale blue. Two ways of looking at the same thing.

Hey Bubba - I still love ya!!....I'm with KC. Jesus - he said RUMOR If ya were THAT into it and wanted to thump him ya could have easily disbelieved the rumor waited till Thursday and blasted him then. It's all about what ya believe. He didn't post a web story to back it up. I have seen lots of folks post something far worse then support it by saying a "reliable source" told me - they elude to knowing MUCH more than they post then say they are not in a "position" to say more.

I don't think anyone's name is out front for all to view. So what's the difference? I kinda think his idea is interesting.

There have been social experiements for years. Look at the social experiments conducted after the war. Having a town of black men think they were getting a cure for syphliss when in actuality the govt just wanted to know the progression of the disease and how long it took them to die. Now that my friend is misleading. Bubba I don't see anything wrong with what ya did. Most folks would have just said - gee the rumor proved to be wrong.

You had the kahunas to stand up and say "this is what it was". Most of wouldn't have done that. So I'm tippin my bonnet to ya fella!! BTW darlin dont let this get ya beat down. Your still credable to me darlin!!

Yelp, it was bidnezz az usual at the packinghouses. I guess this means that we don't have very many illegal, non-English speaking Mexican packinghouse worker-lurkers on this board. Too bad, too; cuz with Highwayman's simple sentence posts, they could learn how to communicate intelligent thoughts (in English) with a minimum number of words.

just being honest when I said I was disappointed in this 'rumor' having been created to solicit some input or reaction. I hope we can disagree here, and say "I don't think that was right" without the crap that used to fly on the other side. You solicited some great input -that's good. Your credibility is as good as ever with me. I'm just makin' my point.

There is a significant illegal issue at the beef plants that is simply avoided. As we all know, fixing that problem is a whole lot tougher than we imagine.

First, welcome to Dodgeboard. Second, I appreciate your post and opinion and hope that you continue to post on other threads as well.

I will tell you that I am not racist. In fact, when I date women I prefer to date what other's would call "women of color." I have many friends of different races. I personally don't see the color of a person's skin or care where he or she came from, I look at the person and personality/character. What I do care about is the illegal entry into our country and the costs and burdens associated with it.
