| R.I.P. "Uncle Meat" Rick Melia, 56, died Thursday, February 21, 2008 at his home in Dodge City. Rick was good at a lot of things, but he was really, really good at BBQ. My thoughts and prayers go out to Julie and the rest of Rick's family. Gonna miss you!

| I grew up with the Melia's. Rick, Danny, Penny, Mary, Bob & Bill were almost like family. I know he suffered long enough so I'm happy yet sad. RIP Rick

| I loved going there to buy his meat. He used to always call me "kido". He was always worth a lively chat when I stopped in. One of the nicest guys I ever met. R.I.P. Rick. Now, they're eating good in heaven!

| My thoughts and prayers go to Julie, Jason, Erin and all the family. Rick seemed like family to me. I liked that Rick was never intimidated and always spoke his mind. Most of his opinions were in line with mine and we had few disagreements over the years. I surely enjoyed his BBQ and was a frequent diner at the River Stop. I like BBQ and I really have never found any BBQ that I would rather sit down to than Rick's. Rick shared some BBQ secrets and I have tried, but never have come close to duplicating Rick's BBQ. During Dodge City Days, Rick went all out and had the regulars down in the park for an added menu, things like gumbo, turduckeon and wild boar sausage. We had a good time sharing hunting stories or talking firearms, but most of all Rick was so pleased that he was feeding me and I was happy. Rick, thank you for your friendship over the years. | Rick! Oh Man, I knew Rick for quite a few years. When my Son worked at River Stop when Rick sold his BBQ out of there. I worked with him before he had to quit. Rick, you will be missed a lot! You always made me smile! Rest in Peace! Anyone know when the funeral is going to be? Please let me know! craigb |
