 DCDays fun? Not sure if this is the forum for this post or if there even is a forum for crafty stuffs on here...but here goes... A couple of friends and I are thinking of dressing up in hoop skirts ala "southern belles" sorta, although we're not going for really authentic costumes. Planning to wear these around somewhere for a few events during DCDays just to have some fun. Anyone else want to join us? And anyone have any tips for me to use (or is willing to help me) while sewing my costume? I've only ever sewn one costume for myself and that was for a rennaissance fair. I have a pattern already for a crinoline and overskirt. Planning on making a corset and wearing it over a long sleeved shirt as my top... Like I said, we're going for more of "period style" rather than authentic costumes. I'm also knitting a little purse/bag to carry my cell/keys/cash in while I'm at it. Now if only I could go without my glasses or wristwatch...  I'm so "naked" without those...not to mention blind as a damn bat... lol     |

| You could get some wide ribbon or lace and tie it to cover your watch...I think ladies used to do that for a "pretty" accessory. (hush Aoo )

| If you have a cameo pin or something of the sort... you could pin it to the lace or ribbon.

| With all of your clothing, your going to get very hot! Drink lots of fluids so you don't get the 'vapors' & pass out.  |

| Hehe, yeah, if I can find one, I'd like to carry around a parasol for some bit of shade like one of the other girls who is supposed to be coming with us.  |
