I think I would call the owners and clue them in
I beginning to think they may know exactly what they're doing. I've voiced my opinion to both Sonic and McD's about how stupid I think it is to have an employee taking orders that has a hard time with English, but the problem remains. I used to think the manager must be a real idiot to put an employee that can hardly speak English taking orders then I realized it may be the least of their concerns.

I think their more interested in the employee being able to speak Spanish well rather than English, and you can't really blame them. If 80% of my business was Hispanic and all I cared about was making money, then being able to speak English well wouldn't be that important.

I tend to agree. I can see why they would do that from a business perspective, meaning you make changes by what kind or in this case ethnicity of your major customer base. So what if you piss of a few of your minority crowd right? That's how they make their money. It may not be right, but it seems to be the way it is at most places here in Dodge anymore.

If they don't own Sonic and McD's - then you haven't spoken to them. The owners are different than the management I bet. Fact is you are there and I'm not so what do I know?......... I thought your main complaint was the loud music not the language barrier. Maybe I misunderstood the issue. Oh well - anyway I wish you luck and a solution.

Unfortunately, we have the same thing goin' on here at McD's. Sonic is still OK and DQ is still OK. But the Burger King and McD's are hard to get an order in. Maybe they could solve it by having two drive-thru's - one for spanish and the other for english. I know it's a hassle. We avoid places we know don't have english-speaking employees to take orders. But then, it's big enough up here that we have a choice. Sounds like you don't have one down there.

The loud music was very annoying but not as annoying as the communication barrier. I'm really getting sick and tired of having to repeat myself over and over at these places, and they still don't get it right.

It's really simple... just say: ched-boodgie, ched-boodgie, ched-boodgie-coke. Don't say "cheeps"

How sad to hear that's what DC has come to. I've only been gone bout 2 years but never had those issues when I was there and lord knows I didn't spend my time cookin. Down there they strive to be as americanized as possible. The only places you might find that type of thing is at a Mom and Pop tacqueria. Maybe it's cause our hispanic population - much of it is legal - and if ya wanna make a living at anything other than landscaping, housekeeper, construction, or waitressing banquets you better speak english. Also helps ya "blend" in - We got a several dialects down here tho - we have a large asian community, hispanics, blacks, we also have a growing number from Honduras and other third world countries. Seems most learn english very quickly.

In my business I do get lots of women that are sittin home raisen bambinos that speak no english. Just depends on what your line of business I guess. Texas - we are just everyone's melting pot. We are learning cajun ghetto now........ always a challange...... LOL
