New twist on phishing scams

Online banking sites have been getting hit with a new twist on phishing scams. Scam artists are using silent viruses or trojans to initiate a pop up box like the one attached to capture your vital information and hack into your bank accounts. These look authentic because they will only appear while loggin into secure sites. If you see a pop-up like the one below while visiting an online banking site, ebay or other site, do not enter your information into the box. It is a hoax.

Creative little SOB’s ain’t they. It’s been suggested that we get away from checks, credit cards etc. by using a chip implanted in our hand to scan at the checkout. I figure that’s a bad idea because thieves will just start cutting peoples hands off.

Oh, this is just dandy. I think I saw one of these pop up last week. And like a good girl, I filled it out. Dammit! Now I'll just have to log in to my bank account and credit card account and check 'em out. And then close them. What a hassle. Thanks for letting me know!

I think I caught one of those "phish" once. It was a female, largemouth bass!!

Not too long ago I got an email supposedly from Cox Communication wanting me to update my account. They not only asked for my check card number but also my PIN. I just deleted the email and latter got one from cox telling me if I received such an email not to respond because it was a phish. Even if it was real I wouldn't give them my PIN.

I would get a copy of your credit report too, if I was you. With SSN, mother's maiden name and your DOB somebody is well on their way to identity theft. It would be a good idea to make sure that somebody isn't getting their own credit cards and such in your name.

Thanks for that info......I do all my banking online......

I know they do that in PayPal.... I had been forwarned before I got the email re: updating my PayPal account.... whew...... close call...too
