Cancelling your AOL account?

Several months ago, my aunt in Wichita told me that she could not cancel her AOL account. I said "Why not?, just call and cancel it". She said she had tried but she would be on hold for hours and then eventually get hung up on. I tried helping her but suffered the same results. She finally found it easier to cancel her credit card and have the bank issue a new one.

Seems these companies will use all kind of unfair tactics to keep you from cancelling your account. This is the latest one circulating the Internet. This is a recording of a customer service rep from AOL and a customer attempting to cancel his account. Very funny!!

If you want to get rid of AOL just tell them that you’re a gun owner. They seem to have no problem shutting off dealers websites. There were once rumors of gun related e-mails being lost. Lots of old stuff on the Keep and Bear Arms site. Here’s a sample and a link to the rest with details about the fired workers.

Quote:
America Online, http://www.aol.com, has been known to gun owners for some time for their support of anti-gun organizations and policies. They’ve donated large sums of money to liberal, anti-gun Democrat organizations to support people like Dianne Feinstein, Hillary Clinton and Ted Kennedy.

More recently, they’ve canceled accounts for firearms related web sites on the grounds that such material is no different from “pornography”. Never mind that guns are entirely legal items owned by tens of millions of Americans. Never mind that AOL doesn’t seem to think that disgustingly offensive rock music is a problem.

Now, in another step towards the final elimination of gun owners from “civilized society”, AOL has fired three exemplary workers for having firearms in their cars in order to go shooting at a range on their own time!

Thanks, Tee - I can't remember when I've laughed like that. The guy knew he had somebody on the line that wouldn't just hang up till he knew he was cancelled. So he went through his whole file of ****! Unfortunately, it's probably true, but it's too funny!
