| DELL: Spontaneous Laptop Combustion In case you missed it DELL has a recall on certain models of laptops batteries. The models in question have been know to catch fire rather quickly. Heres the info to see if you've got a DELL prone to SLC https://www.dellbatteryprogram.com/

| Back when I was living in Dallas, I worked about 6 months for a company that provided tech support for Dell. All applicants had to test to see which contract they worked on - this company handled Dell Portables, Dell Desktops, Disney chat rooms, and about 10 other weird and quirky help desks like Lego building. For some reason, I guessed high enough on the testing to work on Dell Portables, which they considered their "elite" contract. One of the first things they taught us in training was not to refer to the systems as "lap tops" - they are portables! They were adamant about this because the batteries were getting too hot and burning people's laps. Dell covered their butts by saying these puters werent made for laps - just made to be portable! |

| The whole thing is funny. Why would you continue to rest your "portable computer" on your lap if the damn thing was hot! I know I wouldn't! We all refer to them as laptops, but it's hard as hell to type on them if they're in your lap, I think.

| Sony's made a lot of batteries in thier time. Haven't heard of anyother company's that bought batteries of the same line from sony.

| I thought I originally heard when the Dell story first broke that HP had some of the same Sony batteries.....I could be wrong.
