United Wireless Cell service ?

How do their rate plans etc compare to alltells?? I've been way past tired of alltells crap, but I don't like unicels coverage and the rates w/ others aren't too pleasing on the eyes..

Alltel is cheaper and has better coverage. Plus they have the "circle of friends" where you can list 10 numbers that are not alltel numbers and can also be land lines. When you call those numbers they do not count against your minutes regardless of when you call. Alltel has a larger selection of phones and better prices. If you buy a phone I would stick with Motorola. The LG brand is junk.

I just checked out the United website. I agree as far as coverage, alltel hasn't let me down in the places I've been. I also agree about motorola, good phones!!

I have used Alltel for eons with several phones. Their customer service sucks, their phones suck, their coverage sucks, HOWEVER, I haven't found anyone that is any better.

That's pretty much the way it is.....we b!tch and moan about Sprint, but when we look at the others, we really aren't too ready to change.

IN a review of cell phones and services nationwide Spring was rated last in EVERY CATEGORY of the major carriers. Alltel isn't as large as others but as a small company they got good marks. I have had alltel for almost 3 years and have only went to the store about once or twice a year and that was either to get a new phone or for an accessorie and I had great service. If you go during peak times you will wait in line just like at Walmart or anywhere else. I had a mistake in my bill once and they fixed it quickly with no issues.

Outside of this area they told me they have a roaming agreement with Sprint for their towers. The customer service is what would make me go back to United, they had 4 cubicles at the main office, (not sure about the mall) open till 9.00 at the mall, and open on Sunday!
If anybody has signed up please let me know what the service is like.

I have had their service since they started and love it! zero trouble with thier service, service and support.

Unfortunately, we only have access to 3 (maybe 4) carriers. Of those, Sprint is the best for me, considering coverage. And I get a lot of minutes and extras for the money - I have 800, I think, cell-to-cell is free, internet access, and I have up to 4 Email accounts I can monitor. I can also get GPS directions on it (but I have a separate Garmin device for that cuz the phone's too small for map-at-a-glance) and I usually have very good service coast to coast without interruption. For my money, Sprint's the only way to go. Even though I have to do a soft reset every week or so because it loses it's satellite and becomes very confused... and any time I have to go to the Sprint store for something, I have to wait and wait (but that's no different than the other carriers up here). I have had some great luck with customer service, though - I know others haven't had the same experience.

I went back east several weeks ago and my traveling partner has a united phone. It would not work anwhere east of Indiana. The message was that he had reached Verizon and that his number was not valid. Something to think about..
