United Wireless Cell service ?

I noticed that United Wireless' mall store is open and got a brochure. Anyone use them yet? I use their wireless internet service. OK so far....

What is the total cost of the wireless service?(Install fee? Monthly? Equipment?) I'd like a little info on this.

I'm only one of their internet subscribers and have no involvement (customary disclaimer) but I've been looking at their site: http://www.unitedwireless.com/plans.php and the two things that are missing are an early start deal that isn't printed that gives you the first three months service (free) and an additional 25 bucks for droping your competitor phone in their basket. She said that it must work to qualify.

The site's nice. Clean and easy without any popups.

I heard a while back that United was getting cell service, but as an affiliate of Sprint.

Yes I was told yesterday, they have "their own" service in SWKansas, and have a tower on all the elevators around here, supposed to have service in all towns in SW Kansas. Outside of this area they told me they have a roaming agreement with Sprint for their towers. I was alos told that this isn't any part of the Nextel towers that were supposed to be going up in Ford County last year. I was very happy with the customer service I received yesterday, I have not signed up yet, but will in the very near future. Sure beats standing in line at Alltel for them to open at 9:00 and then in line till they get their stuff all in a row to help you..
The customer service is what would make me go back to United, they had 4 cubicles at the main office, (not sure about the mall) open till 9.00 at the mall, and open on Sunday!
If anybody has signed up please let me know what the service is like.

I will tell you whats wrong with Alltel, it's like my ISP, IT JUST PLAIN SUCKS.

Did I hear that Sprint is setting up down there with a cell tower? Or that Alltell will somehow use a Sprint tower? That would be very, very nice - as when I come to Dodge to visit relatives, I can get Sprint calls to just after Hutch and then they just go in Voice Mail, which I can't pick up till I get out of "cell hell". Maybe with the new towers, I'll actually have coverage!!

I wish the population were higher and could support more than one or two mediocre providers. As it is, there really isn't enough money in it to attract a Sprint-sized company. Then you'd have some competition on services and prices. With Sprint, I pay $40 per month. That includes 1500 minutes, all the long distance calls I care to make - no restriction on hours. The 1500 minutes are billed against "peak" minutes from 7 am to 5 pm. Which works well for me - most of that time I'm in the office and not using the Sprint phone anyway. I don't have a problem with service, but there again - your population wouldn't support the number of stores we have here. I seldom have to go to the store - it's been at least 2 years since I've been in and that was to replace a broken phone (under warranty!!). I can do my other business with them through their website.

Sometimes I just can't figure out why you guys have such bad services there. Cable TV is another one. Shouldn't have to be that way.

ok, here's the scoop so far.
I have signed up, took about 10 days for the number rollover to take place (wanted to keep my old numbers). United personally called me about 5 days into it, and said I could now make calls on my phone, just not receive them. And United called me on the 10th day (or so) and told me the number porting went through, and could now cancel my Alltel (which I did with pleasure!)

Now for my service part of it, I live in Spearville, and is really nice to look at the phone and have full service! I went to Jetmore the other day and had full service, have full service in Dodge. I am very happy with it.

I have spent less than an hour total in the United offices (main office and the mall) that included signing up getting phones, ect... Gee with Alltel you have to be there at 8:30 to stand in line for them to open at 9:00 and to find out only 1 person is working ect.....

Bottom line I am very happy so far, I have not been out of their "Southwest KS calling coverage" to be on with Sprint yet, but will be traveling around the holidays and will let you know.

I'm using both wireless services (voice & internet) and am pleased with both. As with Helper, haven't roamed onto Sprint yet; but United has about 5 times as many service towers as Alhell and waaaayyyy more than Unihell here in our area.

United is poised to become the dominate wireless provider in Southwest Kansas. I hope they don't drop the ball.

I signed up with United Wireless for my Cell service and it's AWESOME ! I have great signal strength, and when I make a call, it goes through instantly....it's REALLY nice not having to wait and wait for the call to go through (or having it not go through, and having to re-dial it).

I'm going to look into their Wireless Internet service, as I've heard REALLY good things about that as well.

But in the end, the BEST THING is their CUSTOMER SERVICE, plus they are LOCAL--what more can you ask for!

What are you waiting for ! (can you tell I REALLY like my new phone?!)
