HP cd-writer 9100 series halp kneaded.

I must'a gone to the john kerry skuul of stewpid and knead ewe'er halp pleaze.

My first computer was a w95 and I used an HP cd-writer with much success. I could drag'n'drop files onto and back off of a cd and make changes before burning the disc. I am now using a w2k machine with that burner but it only reads burnt discs.

I've searched the world wide web and read that this burner needs a fix to work properly with w2k (read something about a timing issue with newer operating systems). Essentially, the word is that the fix needs to happen under w95/98 and then upgrade the os to w2k. I'm not gunna do that....

so,

I'm thinking about installing my original w95 hard drive in this box as a slave (can I say that?) to see if I can read my non-burnt discs (and even finish the burning process) using the HP software that resides on the old hard drive. What's the odds of this working?

The other solution is to rebuild the old w95 and finish the burn there.

You can put the old drive in as a slave but getting it to boot off the secondary(win95) will be next to impossible. The way I see it you have a couple of options.

1. As you said build a win95 box.

2. Upgrade your W2K to Windows XP.

Thanks Detector. The web-said XP has the same timing issue... so option 1 is my only option...
