I paws to ponder that I'd qualify as disadvantaged, developmentally disabled and as a minority.

If you have an icon on your desktop that says My Computer, you should be able to right click on it and then click on Properties and it will give you most of that info on your General tab of your system properties.

For example my web browsing computer says...Compaq Computer Corp.
Evo D310v

Intel(R)

Celeron(R)CPU 1.80GHz
376 MB RAM

My gaming computer doesn't hook to the internet and I built it myself. It is an Intel P4 2.8GHz 2GB RAM.

I have been running Vista for a couple of months now, and I gotta tell ya, it's GREAT! I know its going to be a bit pricy when it comes out, but I am gonna invest in it. Lurker, I want you to know that I feel your pain, and I just MIGHT have an answer for you... first of all, we need to know what kind of processer you are running. There is the off (WAY OFF) chance you might be using a CYREX brand processer, kinda like the "natural light" of processers. It's cheep, and it will get the job done, but its not quality. And you need ram like the earth needs the sun. Now what we need to know, is what kind of ram do you have, and how much will your motherboard support. Most motherboards will support AT LEAST 512 MB, and that is about what you need to run win 2k.

Thanks all. I went to My Computer>right click>Properties>General and confirmed what I posted yesterday morning... and this doG does need more RAM.

I counted the time after clicking the 'go to new posts' thingie on this thread .. . about 58 seconds to load the new posts. I counted the time after clicking the 'reply' thingie... . about 32 seconds to open this reply page.

Before writing this post I went to another vB site and the times were 2 seconds to new posts and 4 seconds to open that reply page.

I closed and reopened IE and the 'new post' load times have been about 15 seconds... this is typical after closing IE... and gets slower after some browsing. Clicking this page's reply thingie took about 12 seconds to load.

Anyone have any RAM boards laying around?

Have you tried firefox? Its a great web browser, just a tad faster than IE 6.X. I am using the IE 7 that comes with Vista, but its just a tad memory hungry. If you should want to give firefox try, just go to Firefox - Rediscover the Web
As for the ram, what kind do you need? PC100, PC133, or DDR?

I don't know. The boards are long and narrow. Does that help?

Here you go, check out this site and download and run the program. It will tell you exactly what processer, memory, and most other tech info you need to know.

Well Sarge, that's a neat program. It reminds me of the last time I asked a woman: "What's wrong?" ........ and the reply is: "IF YOU DON'T ALREADY KNOW, I'M NOT GOING TO TELL YOU!!!!!"

Waaay over my head. The .txt file is too large and the .htm file won't attach.

Here's the copied .htm text.
