| I believe I have a few PC100 128's lying around. If you are planning on keeping the PC, I'd happily upgrade your memory. Just PM me an address to send the memory. I also have a 10 gig HD sitting here- how ya doing on disk space?

| Part of the delay is the constant stone chiseling; and English to Latin to English translating. Edit: TIA Tee for the chance to try more ram. I'm thinking it will help. I really want to thank the feller who put this together for me... I'd spilt coffee on my laptop and it died'd'd'd when I only had a dead kat to my name; and three other doGs were chasing me for that. This one came from his bone pile and we knew it was very old bones indeed. I'd mention his name but nobody'd believe he was responsible. Right mystery person? It does have sufficient disk space and is supported by an external disk, too.

| That old intel 440 motherboard is old, but reliable. I had a 440BX back in ....99? Hey, let me ask you something, I have this desktop that I built myself, works great, Athlon 2200XP+, 768MB DDR RAM, and about 120 GB of HD. It's even got a 32MB Video card (not the best I know), but I have no use for it. Ever since I started getting deployed all the time it has just sat and rotted while I used my laptop. So, instead of junking this thing, would you like to have it? I am going to need some time to wipe the HD and put XP back in there, but if you are interested, let me know. |

| That's very generous of you Sarge. Is it in Italy? funnee... that's the first sentence I've ever typed that all words start with i.... Anywhoo, Tee's offered some better ram and I will install them later today. The werld isn't really ready for me to get up to cyber-speed.... ya know what I'm saying?

| It is in Italy, and if I ship it this week, it might even get back before Christmas. Formating the HD and putting the OS on it would be a good holiday project for my Soldiers to get done while I am out of the net with the new young'en. (3 guesses what I do for the Army!) Anyway, if you are interested, let me know so I can get them working on it! Like I said, I need to get rid of it anyway, its almost time to PCS outta here and I was going to throw it away. |

| First off, I do want it; but more than that, I'd want it to go to any Soldier in your area who might want it. THANK YOU for your offer. FWIW, I had some RAM 'mailed' to me just today... and will get them installed as soon as I finish reading the new DB posts. I'll soon know if they zip me up. doG help you all, if I can begin to post 'more' faster.

| The mail service delivered a nice little plastic bag of goodies today. I opened the lid and removed the ram sets. Only one board in the bag would slip into the socket so I reinstalled the 64mb and installed the 128 board. It's working but I've a question: Bootup showed new memory that was something like 137.xxx memory where I think it should have been about 192mb. I ran Sarge's nifty dealie and noticed slot 2 looked odd. See pics. Should I switch the bigger board into slot 1?

| I always put the larger RAM chips first. Keep in mind that you may get better results with just the one memeory chip. Your motherboard will always slow down to the speed of the slowest chip. The Chips I gave you were: 32 mb PC 100 IBM 128mb PC 133 std (1) Cache chip If you have a pipline cache slot (short brown slot) located on your board, you should install the cache, otherwise you can discard it. If your board only supports PC100, you can still use the PC133, it just wont take full advantage of it. It is possible that your old chip is not even being used. Try and take it out and see if things change. Also, be aware that some older boards require your to populate your slots in a certain way. Sometimes bank 0, slot one and two have to have identical size chips. Likewise Bank 1, slot one and two must be identical. Newer boards handle this better, allowing for mixtures. Try moving them around to see what happens.
