Also, you should always increase your virtual memory whenever you increase RAM. Virtual memory should be 2x the amount of physical ram. If you have 2 hard drives, your virtual paging file should be setup on the second drive. You always get better performance moving your virtual memory off of system drive.

I didn't know that. I stopped the moving process because I don't know if I need to create a file or just select my E drive...?

Yelpers, I've cruised around the web enough tonight to know that I'm miles ahead of where I would be in the daze of yore.

THANKS TO ALL .....

Lurker,
It probebly would not hurt to retire the antiqe PC you are running, a person can even pick up a used PC that would help you give you alot more speed and reliability without spending alot of money. There are some other things to think about that is often times over looked like how many RPM your hard drive is running, and what you motherboard is capable of handeling.

Thanks for jumping in Big Daddy.... or gettin' off the fence; as our new T-shirts say.

Steppin' up to a new computer's on the horizon. But making this one perform better is really nice. I'm beginning to wonder if that other ram quit working. I just noticed an extreme slowdown in performance when loading any site beyond a basic page.

BTW, post freely....

How do you increase virtual memory? I don't even know how to do that for sure....

The worst part is that you had to look for it.
