| Proxy Servers 101 Proxy servers are simply another computer acting as a middle-man between you and the site. They allow you to overcome restrictions put in place by your network administrator and they can also shield your identity from the site you visit. More info on Proxy Servers: Public Proxy Servers To setup a proxy server in Internet Explorer: TOOLS, INTERNET OPTIONS, CONNECTIONS, LAN SETTINGS, under PROXY SERVER, check it and then add an IP address of a valid Proxy server. There are tons of public anonymous proxy server lists available if you just Google them. Do a search for PUBLIC PROXY SERVER Try this list for starters Public Proxy Servers Page 1 Public Proxy Servers Page 2 Find one you want to try and enter te IP address and the PORT and the section mentioned earlier, then you must close and reopen your browser. Don't give up if the first few do not work...keep trying...some of these lists are old.

| My laptop has to have my id card inserted for me to even use it... I think it's called a schlumberger card or whatever...anyway each time I log on my computer runs an asset manager which I think sends a log of everything on my computer to...big brother. I am restricted from d/l like yahoo and msn messanger but can access about any website. IF I somehow do d/l yahoo messanger they know about it rickety tick and send a little email saying remove it. If i get a virus they send an email telling me what to do and then report back to them. I don't think a proxy server will help me will it?

| Most likely, your computer already has a proxy server setting entered....them that's how they track you!

| A good one to use is Proxify. It costs money, but its the best one I've used. AND it allows me to access the DB from my office. I tried it yesterday and it works GREAT! |

| Until we move to IPv6. I think IPv6 keeps a complete map in it's header of where a packet has been and comes from. Better security less anonymity.
