rehash - win2k will boot but display shuts down (like sleepmode) when windows loads. Monitor power light goes to yellow during startup.

1)I have tried every option from Recovery console
2) re-installed win2k to another directory. Re-installed over the top.
3) windows installed and runs fine on another small HD.
4) CMOS is no help
5) does the same thing with a different video card (on board shut off in CMOS)

Does it in Safe Mode also. Can not get to windows period.
Not many options in recovery console, but did do all the repairs I could like MBR and Boot Sec. There doesn't appear to be any way to change anything in registry unless you know where the exact location of the problem. Can't just look at registry from recovery dos prompt. So I am stuck there.

I have established this is not a hardware issue but some kind of conflict. I have removed all but bare minimum with same results.

Problem I have now is my small HD (1.2gb) isn't big enough to copy the programs they are trying to keep to. I will have to start all over again after I find a bigger HD to use. Anyway so I am open to anything.
