AVG is a great Free virus program I used to have it and it worked great.

Watch out for free firewalls though, some are not so good and let things slip thru.

Spyware Doctor is a good Free spyware detector also.

I actually have a paid for firewall program. ZoneAlarm Pro. I'm pleased with it as well.

I steadfastly stand by AVGFree. I have been using it on ALL of my computers for about 4 years now. It, combined with the free Microsoft program 'Windows Defender', have been totally successfully in keeping my machines virus and spyware free.
