| Might want to check the motherboard for leaky capacitors.. Those optiplex's are kind of notorious for that. If you open the case and the capacitors are corroded, then that is probably the culprit.

| No CMOS? If not I'd look for bad caps like gunnar posted. Usually the signs are your PC freezes/locks up intermittently. The lockups get more frequent until one day it just won't turn on any more. Here is a link to show you what to look for. Badcaps.net - Badcaps Home Basically, look at the larger capacitors for any swelling on top. They should be perfectly flat. If there is any swelling on top it's bad or going bad.

| Had this happen before too on one and it wasn't the caps. It was the power supply. Just enough juice to turn stuff on, but not the right voltage and such to power the cpu. Front Light and MB light were blinking the minute you power on. I even used a tester(cheap) and it showed good, but it was still the power supply none the less. |

| That was my first thought also was the power supply. i haven't heard back from him yet about it but i'll have him check that as well.
