| Just for the record, no ONE person gets credit for 'Inventing the Internet." There are a few names that helped bring it all together. Leonard Kleinrock: The concept of packet switching(sending packets of data from one computer to another via addresses) J.C.R. Licklider: His "Galactic Network" was the first idea of a World Wide network. Larry G. Roberts: For creating the first working long-distance network of computers. Bob Kahn and Vint Cerf: For inventing the Transmission Control Protocol(TCP) that actually moves the data packets.

| detector, you're right..the thread was kind of taken mildly out of context from a previous thread.. the tim guy invented the WWW and that's it..the "Internet" is ..well..about as broad of a topic as you can get. It's like pinning the inventor of masonry or construction. It's really a team effort..and an evolving one at that. |
