Take into consideration that he IS working a job and is maybe trying to make a better life. People DO change...I know personally. Everyone deserves a second chance, give him a break ya'll.

IF that is the guy he robbed the Altell at GUNPOINT just a very few months ago...I REALIZE that people changed but do you think he's paid his debt to society?

I am not sure how to measure someone debt to society. I know he sure scared the hell outta a few people while doing the robbery, yet he didn't do any action that harmed anyone (right? I don't know the info). If no one was harmed, I think his little time out in jail and his blemished record will affect him for the rest of his life. He now has to prove to everyone that he has changed if he wants anyone to respect him. I believe that is punishment enough for anyone who wants to take pride in themselves. Everyone will second guess his actions, and they have a right too, since most criminals don't change. If a person has the decency to become a better man/woman after doing a heinous crime, this punishment for life is what he pays to society forever. The others that don't change will be in and out of prison and never learn. Everyone will second guess the ones who don't change as well, yet they will never take the time to change anyone's opinion. Unfortunately, the ones who do change and the ones who don't will always be on the same level according to some closed-minded people.

Does this make any sense?

Explain "harmed". Just because he didn't shoot anyone doesn't mean he didn't harm anyone mentally. I don't know what happened but just because no bullets were fired robbing somone with a weapon is pretty rough.

I think there is some type of sentencing grid or sentencing guidelines for sentencing standards. Hell, he could have plead it down to jaywalking for all I know and it wouldn't surprise me in this town. I'm not saying that the guy doesn't deserve "a break today" (ha ha) but it just seems IF he was convicted of armed robbery it's pretty quick for him to be on the streets and bagging Qtr Pounders and Mickey D's.

Personally if I ran a business in a smaller community like Dodge where a lot of people know each other I wouldn't hire someone that committed a major crime in that town. It just looks bad and reflects on the business. That's just me. MIT you are a business owner, would YOU hire this guy to represent your business?

I tried one time to give an ex-con a break. Instead, he tried to "break" me! Won't ever happen again, I don't care how sincere they act. When it comes to my family's livelihood, I am kind of sensitive about it.

Well, the guy probably does deserve a break, but I would be damned before I'd let him touch my cash! Honestly! And then I'd put him in a position where he's not going to deal with any customers face to face. I'm sure he'll be recognized by a few. There aren't many jobs that fit that description, but I'd use him as a fry cook or a janitor or a dishwasher or a motel maid before I'd let him face the public. I do realize it's tough - he probably has probation he has to deal with and can't leave the city, so he has to work somewhere. Maybe he's reformed and all that, I just don't ever want to be confronted by someone who's pulled an armed robbery - even if it IS just with my lunch!

Good points.....I'm not sure I agree that he "deserves" a break but I guess he can earn it...

I haven't read all of the responses to this post, so I don't know if you spoke with management, but I hope you did. I worked in the restaurant industry for many years. We always appreciated it when customers told us about any concerns. I don't frequent McD's, but it is like most restaurants, where there are times the food is not as good as it should be.

What did McDonalds say to you when you spoke to them about your concerns?
