OK, Monster....time for you to weigh in. How is the healthcare system in the U.K.? Would you say it is worse or better or about the same. I know the patient's cost is a lot less, how is the care?

Here is some stuff bubba along with the link...

Nearly half of those questioned wanted more cuts in waiting times for treatment, an urgent reduction in infections such as MRSA and Clostridium difficile and an increase in the number of staff. The association's new study reveals that France has the highest level of spending on health-care at £1,687 per head of population in 2005, compared with the UK's £1,362.

Another recent report also revealed that more than one million patients are still waiting longer than a year for treatment. Although 72 per cent of patients waited less than the Government target of 18 weeks, there were wide variations across the country.

Bubba, our healthcare system needs to be fixed and there isn't one magic bullet that will fix it. There needs to be sweeping changes from tort reform to insurance changes and billing etc.

Socialized medicine is NOT the answer Bubba. You think you wait a long time NOW...wait until you get socialized healthcare.....

In 1999 there were over 200,000 people in UK waiting for General Surgery. 4% of those had been on the list for OVER A YEAR. In some area's it's not uncommon to wait 2 or 3 months for an outpatient appointment.

HERE IN THE U.S. (with our crappy healthcare according to your boy Moore) I can call TODAY and get in to see a doctor and my healthcare covers 100% of that as with my wife and child....lets see....NO WAIT vs WEEKS wait..hmmmm. Do we have a winner?

He's NOT my boy Moore. In fact I made it clear in my first post that I didn't care for any of his other movies, but this one I thought was pretty good.

Here is a real life decision someone with no insurance has to decide.

Of all friggin days ....Tuesday this week Happy New Year to me.... I'm just minding my own business ( not really I was on DB) and all of a sudden I see in my left eye these little dots.

So Im thinking ...."get off the damn puter Weezie. So I did....... well in a little while I am not only seeing spots, I am seeing black spiderwebs....You know the kind of spiderwebs that someone has walked through and they are torn apart.

I also had a low grade headache and I thought maybe I have a Migraine coming on. (altho when I used to have those it wasn't spiderwebs in my vision ...it was really bright zigzag lines that would dissipate and then the rip roaring headache would follow) No big headache came.

So I figure I need to find out whats going on .....Sooooooo I go online and check on WTF could this be.

Seems its just something from " AGEING" ( wonderfuc*ingful)....or it could be a detached retina. If its just age, then it will disappear on its own. If not it needs to be checked for detachment.

So Wednesday I call for appointment with my NP. She wasn't in til Thursday, so I set appointment.... and in meantime spoke with someone that had experienced those spots and he said he was told it was bursted blood vessels and your body will absorb them. He said he had went to the doctor and then was sent to an Opthamologist.(ms?)

So I am thinking if I am going to be sent to another dr, then hell I don't want to pay both of them .....soooooo .....I cancelled appointment with NP.

Yesterday ....still spiderwebs, but maybe they will go away. NOT.... so today I decide well maybe I could just go have just a regular eye exam. It is only $65.00 at Walmart vision center..... but when I spoke to the lady there she said spiderwebs are something they would send you to an Opthamologist for so CRAP....I called and got a damn appointment, for Monday.

The point is ....... with no insurance , you have to sort out and skip all the BS and try to get to the heart of the matter. This visit will cost around $200.00 because they have to dilate the eye. But I can pay 2 payments ....Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..... She said they try to accommodate their patients. WOW what a concept. ( then you have to consider there is probably only 2 people in Kentucky with health insurance...LOL )

I feel pretty dang fortunate that I can make an appointment without a referral. If I had insurance ...I would have went to my NP, she would have done some testing.... then sent me somewhere for more tests and finely to the damn OPTHAMOLOGIST. That I can deal with......................UNLESS ............... its a detached retina.......... Surgery ........ which is another story...
    CALLING DR. KAVORKIAN ............. :snail:

Hell if these spiderwebs came in colors I could probably enjoy them.....lol

No, you just saw Michael Moore and pre-judged it as being bad.

If our healthcare system is so much better than Canada, France and the U.K., then why are they all higher on the life expectancy list than the United States?

Coming in at #10 is France, Canada is at #13, the U.K. is at #36 and the United States comes in at #44!

Like what? Diet? That must be it!! The French eat tons of fatty foods and red meat, drink alcohol, smoke, work 35 hours/week, get 5 weeks of vacation per year (minimum).

    Weezie,
A couple of years ago I, too, experienced those floaters aka spiders, also a noticeable darkening of my vision in that eye. Went to my eye doctor and it was a detached retina. Went to another eye doc and he "welded" the retina back with a laser. Felt pretty wierd but only a small amount of stinging when he hit somewhere back of the eye. All in all, it CAN be cause for alarm if it's a detached retina because it could lead to blindness if left uncorrected.
So until you get to a doc, don't pick up anything over a couple of pounds, don't lean over forward try not to sneeze. If the spiders increase significantly or your vision darkens, get thee to a doctor. Being blind will cost you more than any eye doctor bill.
    Good luck.
PD: We all have floaters in our vision and most do become absorbed but if you notice them all the time, beware.
