Bubba...if you want to have the gov't provide your healthcare then that's fine. I am not here to change your mind but name one program the gov't runs that is efficient, cost effective and has great results?

I know our healthcare system has many flaws but it's still pretty decent. There are a lot of people that don't have healthcare and that is unfortunate but there are also a lot of people that don't have healthcare because they would rather spend their money on other things...(bigger house, nicer vehicles, smoking, etc)

Yeah...that's all that goes into looking at the life expectancy rate..if you say so.

MEDICAL CARE only influences LIFE EXPECTANCY by 10%. OTHER factors are more. LIFESTYLE for example (smoking, eating ect) 50%....5 Times healthcare. GENETIC DISPOSITION 24%, Environmental factors 16%. So see bubba....Healthcare plays a small role in life expectancy...of course Michael Moore wouldn't point this out in his one sided movie. I would expect a lot of people on here to be easily lead by his misdirections and skewing of stats but not you. You seem to be a guy that usually does a bit of looking around before accepting something at face value. Moore is an idiot with an agenda. If the movie was unbiased and presented unskewed facts it would have more credibility.

Factors Influencing Life Expectancy

JW, I hope your eye problem turns out to be something minor.

Having insurance is not always the greatest when you need a referral. If you’re stuck with needing a PCP for a referral you can end up screwed. Often the referral is on the buddy system. I’ve been sent to one guy that did me more harm than good and I’ve been referred to treatment that wasn’t even what I needed. Once I needed a referral and didn’t get one. And if your PCP turns out to be a POS you have to go through the insurance carrier and change it before you can go see another one.

I swear that some doctors see an insurance card and hear the kerr-chine, kerr-chine of their cash register. I saw one clown last year that wanted to set me up for a battery of tests including an expensive MRI and put me on a whole list of new drugs while ignoring the minor problem that I went in for. This kind of crap is one reason costs are so high.

Oh yeah, I fired the a-hole. A simple change of a BP med that I had grown intolerant of fixed the problem. And yeah, I had told him the drug need changed. He bragged about his “expertise” and told me I was wrong. I wasn’t, but he would have spent thousands of insurance dollars and blamed my pain on arthritis. BTW, arthritis is what doctors blame for your pain when they don’t know what the real problem is.

All in all, it CAN be cause for alarm if it's a detached retina because it could lead to blindness if left uncorrected.
So until you get to a doc, don't pick up anything over a couple of pounds, don't lean over forward try not to sneeze. If the spiders increase significantly or your vision darkens, get thee to a doctor. Being blind will cost you more than any eye doctor bill.
Good luck.
PD: We all have floaters in our vision and most do become absorbed but if you notice them all the time, beware.
Thanks for that info NYB...

So the surgery is done right in their office ? No hospital bill ? That will be great if so.
This is the first time in my life that I wish I was old enough for medicare. LOL ( I know I know ...one of those damned ole entitlements....

Army you are right... In my case I could do without cable, Internet, phone,
puter, definitely quit smoking. (that's expensive) my car is 13 this year.... I will have it paid off soon. Ha

Come to think of it, If I didn't have puter and Internet I probably wouldn't have a possible detached retina which could have been the result of being in the CASINO...and the and all the yelling and screaming I have been doing...lol

There we have it .............. the case ...she is sol-ved

Hey Jeeze..that wasn't aimed at you in particular. It was just about people in general. I know people that smoke damned near 2 packs a day and complain about not having insurance "given to them" because it's their "right". That's about 10 bucks a day or 300.00 a month on cigs. I think they could buy SOME type of insurance for that...maybe not great insurance but SOMETHING.

I hope you get the eye thing resolved. You don't want to lose vision in one of your eyes...makes the slots harder to play probably and we don't want that now do we.
