| Suicide is a chickenshit thing to do to your family. UNLESS....you are a candidate for Dr. Kavorkian. Then your family would understand. But when you are young and healthy.........CHICKENSHIT.

| Yes ..I have been there My 16 year old brother hung himself... no note, no nothing, and my Mother never recovered from it, she blamed herself for the rest of her life. That is why I said it was chickenshit. I have had severe depression and yes I have had suicidal thoughts .... but then I think of my family. I do understand where your coming from tho.

| I dunno if I'd use the word 'Chickenshit', but I don't really appreciate hearing about suicidal people. It IS a bad place to be, but strong people pull themselves out of it. And you DO have to pull yourself out. Professionals or family can't do it for you. All they have to do is ask for help. Somebody will keep them from it until they can pull themself out.

| I understand where you are coming from also, I also think you view calling it a chickenshit act as deragatory, which is isn't. I can completely sympathize and empathize with severe depression, and would bend over backwards and kiss my own ass to help someone. I would not, though, pore pity them. I would force them to see through the fog and realize exactly what their decision brings. Most people who contemplate suicide do not WANT to die, they want YOU to feel their pain. They want YOU to hear their crying that they can't seem to express. You can hear that, and feel that and let them know you do while still giving them the attention they need without giving in to the feeling of hopelessness they feel. Sometimes you have to figuratively (sic) slap them back into the real world. Suicide is a chickenshit act, just as is killing your child or any other act that one would rationalize by being depressed. I do not know who said it but I think it goes like: Dying is easy, living is the hard part.

| This is why I take antidepressant, because I can get into a real funk and not only am I miserable, I make everyone around me miserable, because they don't know what to do. After I moved to SC and broke up with the hubby, I wasn't on meds and I had one of those episodes. I would just stay in my room curled up in a fetal position, crying. My Kids were just lost. I had not found a job yet and that was part of it..... You know how hard it is to sell yourself for a potential employer when you hate yourself. I think I would have made a great actress, cause I found a job. I know it had to be a higher power that took me to Havertys that day, cause I was just pounding the pavement and they had not ran an ad. Anyway probably more than you wanted to know but Thank God for Zoloft.

| I am sorry, Weezie, for you loss and your pain. People taken to the breaking point usually don't return. I thank God that you did. It is not easy.I am glad tha Zoloft worked for you. It made me mad (crazy). I wasn't taking it for depression, but migraines.

| I've never heard someone taking it for migraines. Maybe the doc was just trying to stab at reasons for the migraines. I've taken anti-depressants for a while (love those damn things!). When they're prescribed right and you have a good physician, great things happen. When you have a doc that really doesn't have a handle on it and is just shooting in the dark, that's when you hear the bad stories. I was in that place you were, Weeze, when I first migrated to the big city. There were days I had to force myself just to get out of bed. What you were saying about the job? That is absolutely right. Somehow we go on autopilot, don't we? And that was the best thing I could have done at the time. It forces a person to live in the moment and not the past. But those anti-depressants sure help. ![]()
