I've always thought the early caucuses were circuses. It's 10+ months before the election! I guess the belief is that, as Iowa goes, so goes the country. I think too many people put too much stock in it, although it's probably a great party! It sure put Iowa on the map.

Loosely, it’s any gathering where folks get together to discuss politics. In the case of the Iowa Caucus they select delegates to the national conventions.

The Iowa caucus is an electoral event in which residents of the U.S. state of Iowa elect delegates to the county convention to which their precinct belongs in a caucus. There are 99 counties in Iowa and thus 99 conventions. These county conventions then select delegates for both Iowa's Congressional District Convention and the State Convention, which eventually choose the delegates for the presidential nominating conventions (the national conventions).

Politics, a game played by older people, is one of the most disgusting exhibitions of human behavior. We not only know that the players will stoop to any level to win, and don't care, but we expect it, and praise them when they do.

This is what I see of the life cycle of politics.

At 18 you have the right to vote but don't want to play the game because it just seems stupid.

By your late 20's to middle 30's you learn that politics make your life miserable and you're sucked into playing by the "If you don't vote you have no right to complain" phrase.

40 to 50 you start to question why you even bother to play, but you're again convinced that the game of politics must go on. You're lead to believe that by refusing to play in protest of the game will only be seen as a forfeit. The game goes on even if only one team shows up to play.

after 60 playing the game/voting is simply habit. You realize your participation makes no difference but you've played for too long to stop.

it is a call for the feds to investigate Mitt Romney's political organization to find out exactly how closely church-affiliated it is.

As in spending tons of money with little results, and stooping to any level to win.

Speaking of church affiliation.... Huckabee could use a nice hard look, also if Huckabee goes all the way, you can start throwing your personal rights out the window!
