| No, you do not read me correctly. Primary racism is inexcusable. Secondary racism is something which much be worked through-- therefore easier to deal with. Sort of on the continuum beween sin and psychological problem. Of course, I have met people who were much closer to the sin pole who appear to be secondary racists. So it is an individual, as well as societal concept. Why do you think Colin Powell's wife nixed his speculative candidacy? Agreed. The only candidate of black ancestry who has any hope of winning is one who transcends race. And, generally they are not strictly speaking African-American, as the two cases illustrate. There is generally too much bitterness in African-American culture. |

While I clearly don’t have your level of understanding about racism, I do understand politics. Obama got a pass on his church because he’s a Democrat and favored by the MSM. The black/white reversal was to show how the church’s statement should be viewed as racist, and it would be if it was associated with a Republican.

| Then where is the line between mistrust because of past hurts by racists, and racism????? "If you are not treating others as equals because of skin color, then it is racism." Very well said. As white as I look, when "whiter than thou folks" treat me as inferior, that is racism. And when I am mistrustful of "whiter than thou folks", who I have reason to mistrust, that cannot be defined as racism. That can only be defined as mistrust on the basis of past hurt, namely, the consistent desire of colorless people to treat me as inferior. So maybe the term "reactive racism" is a misnomer. ![]() |
