When I travel (on my own dime) I use priceline to get a hotel when I can. In KC I can get a 3 star hotel downtown sometimes for a pretty good price. If you have never used priceline I would say use it...especially the "name your own price" feature. I used to be able to get the Hyatt Regency in Wichita (king bed, riverview room) for around $55.00 a night.

I have stayed at the Hyatt to attend meetings in Wichita, and in my opinion it sucks, I don't care what they charge! But the convenience of staying where the meetings are being held is a slight advantage.

I agree! We had meetings last summer there, and I was not impressed! My pillows sucked and there was no refrigerator in the rooms. My other gripe was they charge a dollar to make local calls!!!!

What sucked about it? I like the beds and the flat screen HD tv. Where do you prefer in Wichita? The Broadview or whatever it is sucks. I like the Old Town Hotel but it's $$$.

The TV was great, and the beds were OK. The front desk personnel were rude, the parking sucked, the meeting rooms were too damn far from the hotel rooms, the "handicapped" access sucked, the restaurants were not that good for the prices they charged, they ripped me on the meeting room rate, the bar stunk, anything else you want to know?

Well, prior to booking the room at the Broadview, I went into some of the "better" hotel sites online. Nobody had any rooms. Then I went to Priceline and looked for a 3-star hotel for $60 a night. And got two rooms at the Broadview. Probably should have tried $50, but I was at the end of my rope since I couldn't find Hyatt's, Marriott's or anywhere else hubby had some free nights saved up. I gotta say, the Broadview was pretty darned nice. Even though it was downtown. There was a baseball (I think) tournament in town and, you got it! Some of them were staying there. Up later than I would have liked, but otherwise, it was a great room. The bar was busy and sonny and hubby found beer for $1.50.

Army, I actually liked the Broadview...well, all except for the lack of parking.

Park in the garage or pay for valet parking...if you are fat and lazy like me it's worth it. LOL

I NEVER eat a hotel restaurants.....usually too pricey for what you get. That's ANY hotel...

For some reason, hubby stopped in the valet parking lane and nobody ever came out to either ask us to move it (we were checking in) or for the keys, so they could park it for us. There was a derelict on the bench outside, but I don't think he was an employee......or parking cars. We actually left the car there until Sat. AM. We didn't find anybody that looked interested in moving it for us.

And if they towed it --- too bad, it was a rental. And we didn't dare leave anything inside it, so nothing would have been lost if they'd towed it. 'Cept we would have had to jump through hoops to get another.
