Stayed at the Best Western about the same time as KC Muffin... in fact, might have been the same time. (KC, were you there when the dust storm came in and turned the power off and on a couple times?) I know there was a big family reunion going on there, and the stay was great, although the desk clerk seemed a little overwhelmed. And their Military rate can't be beat. Overall, 5 stars for the BW in DC.

Yeap, Sarge, we were there - in the party room sorta. We were pretty much spread out when the lights went out. The desk clerk kept shushing us because people on the 2nd floor might not be able to sleep. If I'd known you were there, you could have gone snip huntin' with us! We intended to head out about the time the dust started swirling. Ended up waiting till after 10.

Comfort Inn started going downhill when the new owners started to take over. They don't upkeep anything, took everyons pay down regardless of title or time there. I keep meaning to go in there one day, I've been told time and time again that its completely different from when I was there. It's a shame I loved that place

Same goes for the owners that sold Dodge House after getting the La Quinta up. He doesn't upkeep or give a care about anything or anyone. Will do things as cheap as possible no matter what the consequences are. He'll act like you are at fault for bothering him with complaints or concerns. Best Western as far as I'm aware is nice, I'd definately stay there before anywhere else in dodge.

The new owners of the Dodge House seem like good people. However, they have a lot of cleaning up to do from the previous owner. As for the LaQuinta, it won't take that guy long to trash it up either. I have heard some stories already. Bill Cunningham runs a good place at the Best Western. I do hear that his rates are kinda high though. If this town is counting on the big tourist influx from the casino, they need to get rid of some of the rat traps and get some better motels up and running.

The Convention and Visitors Bureau should do something with the crap served up at several Dodge motels. It gives the entire town a bad rep. Did the Tourism Master Plan mention crappy service? Perhaps the to-be-hired tourism ghuru at $60K+ can do something--or not.
