The original is a classic. It is always a bad idea to try and redo a classic. Watch the second King Kong made in 1976 and you will see what I mean.

That being said, I must say there is an exception to every rule.......

This movie is a must see. I went into it with a lot of skepticism: I am not a Jack Black fan and I think CGI is way overused. I was swayed on both counts. Peter Jackson (the director) obviously is a big fan of the original movie. While sticking to the story he elaborates a bit more by showing the bond between Ann and Kong. You do not get that funny squeemish feeling of something odd about a 25 foot gorilla being infatuated with a normal sized woman. While it doesn't explain where or how Kong came to be it does show that there was more than one at some time. While it is violent, it is not gory. It let's your mind do that for you. All in all it is by far the best movie I have seen in a very long time. Now if only I could invent a death ray to use on those morons who have cell phones and small children.........

I read about how movie theater owners were trying to get passed a law that would allow them to block cell phone signals in the theater. I say, let's get it done. There is no call so important that you can't do without your cell phone for the length of a movie. If there is, you shouldn't be going to the movie in the first place!

Now, before all the doctors in the room start jumping in and saying how they have to be able to get their calls....jump back in time, say 15-20 years....how did doctors get by without them before? I think if you use your highly educated mind, you will find a way to live without the phone for 2-3 hours.

I remember hearing about a device that will kill all cell phones within range, but I think it was outlawed. Unfortunately it didn’t work on small rug rats. The DVD is my choice for a socially accepted solution.

Or they could at least enforce the "please put all pagers and cell phones on silent setting" and they could leave the theater room to answer any call.

How about somebody frisking each person before they go in and dumping all cell phones and pagers in a big fishbowl to be retrieved later after leaving the theater!

A similar thing happened when the world was dominated by doGs..

As my Uncle Thurston tells the story, every doG gathered in a comPOUND to socialize for the evening. However, they were required to 'check' their a$$holes at the door.

Welp, one night a fire broke out and there wasn't time to reconcile their tickets with their..... well you know. So the check-girl simply pawed them out with no attempt to match them....

Since that night, we doG's have been on a constant sniff-ing mission in search of our very own.

Kids grate me worse than cell phones. IF you go to a 3 hour movie that starts at 8:30 there is absolutely NO REASON a small child should be at that movie. People are bringing their 1 year old kids (who SHOULD be in BED) and then when the kid's 10 minute attention span goes he's hell on wheels. IT's ANNOYING.

Cell phones are supposed to be banned because with a lot of them now you can take video and some try to copy the movie. When I was at a theatre in Wichita (that serves food and beer while ur watching the movie) a guy snapped out his cell phone...a ladie rushed out and said put it away it's against the law!
