Fyi

Just wanted to inform everyone that my grandpa got a few disturbing phone calls tonight. Someone called his house claiming they were with the government and had $5000 to deposit in his checking account, all he needed to do was give the person his checking account number. He took down the persons name address and telephone number and told him he didn't know his account number off the top of his head and didn't have his checkbook with him right now but would call back later. He immediatly called the police to report it after he hung up with this person. Be very careful when giving out your personal information. I'm almost positive this was a SCAM artist.

I keep getting these checks in the mail and a letter saying I won this lottery. I am suppose to deposit the check in my account, then send them so much money to get the rest that I have supposenly won. What happens is you deposit the check, then send the money that they want, and in the end you are out the money you send because the check they send you is ...guess what...NO GOOD!

can you say....S-C-A-M!!!

HAHAHA

That is rampant in this area ...
The newspaper here has warnings about it all the time.... This area is a retirement haven.....and alot of older folk, dont use puters and are not privi to the info highway... we read this all the time in emails...and are prewarned so to speak...
Im getting more and more of those elderly relatives and friends...(for some reason...hahaha)....and one 82 year old , smart woman all her life...got herself into a bankruptcy situation just last year....by phone and mail... solicitations.. she lives alone....and has for years.... but something happened to her , her daughter told me...... like over night she lost her ability for reasoning and fell for everything...including a sham to send money to help families of fallen law officers.......She gave them her credit card info....and some she gave bank account info....and on and on....by the time her daughter found out about this....it was a huge mess...., So sence there seems to be a " RIGHT"..to scam people, by phone or mail..... the daughter got caller I.D for her....dont answer the phone unless its someone she knows....yada yada yada....told her not to open any mail, she will come over every day and take care of that....it seems to work for now...but older folks are well......old...
I guess we ...the informed .... should shout the info to any older person that we know...neighbors .... relatives... friends.....make sure they have caller I.D...open their mail for them...but alot of them dont want to admit they have lost control of their lives...ITS JUST SICK SICK SICK....the preditors are everywhere you turn
Maybe some one could make up flyers and pass them out when ever you meet an older person, I dont know the answers... all I know is...... I AINT LOOKING FORWARD TO GOING TO MY SECOND CHILDHOOD...
Dr. Korvorkien......paging Dr Korvorkien..... ( phonics works for me)
luv ya
