| A very dynamic portion of the US Citizenship Naturalization ceremony is their oath of allegiance whereby they swear to their willingness to take up arms to defend the United States.

| I have a question Has anyone on here tried to figure ... how exactly... would a clean up ....effect the economy of Dodge City and other cities like it...??? For real now.......Im just wondering...?? Would they then move the packing plants to Mexico...and outsource the jobs...??

| A perfect house cleaning would give us a few huge vacant buildings along with their large parking lots. Even without a removal of cheap labor, the packers are always on the lookout and willing to relocate. All it would take is another municipality willing to build a custom building with tax abatements and a few other guarantees (utilities etc.) and they are the hell outta Dodge. Remember, Texas is packer friendly and doesn't tax income. We appear to be willing to invest $40,000,000.00 to build a shrine to our Thinkers that will mostly sit vacant... other cities are willing to invest the same amount of money to import a few thousand workers into their area with the net effect of injecting those worker's wages into their local economy. That is called "Sustainable Economic Development" and is a much safer bet than a Special Events Center. Please wait while lurker finds his calculator........................\\ OK. Here are sum numbers: 2,000 workers with an average take home pay of $450 per week (intentionally low) equals (calculator time................) almost a MILLION DOLLARS PER WEEK, or about $50,000,000 per year. That's more than the cost of the building. (future) Commissioner Sowers once swore that he had to vote to give our race track's operator some of our money because it grew by a factor of 6 as it trickled through our city. I believe most of it drives off as the track shuts down for the night. What does stay here goes mostly to restaurants, bars, convenience stores and motels for a few weekends per year. The rest of us sweep up the trash. Like it or not, at least our workers do live here and spend here. Anywho, other cities are very willing to take that gamble.

| In addition Lurker, (by the way--nice bunny ears), I have a pretty good idea of how much money goes out of here every week in money orders to Mexico. The figure would stagger your mind!!! You would probably need a "bigger" calculator!! Kinda like the racetrack, huh------------ |

| bubba that artical from the Globe is both depressing and hilarious Depressing because its just another example that dodge city faces major leadership problems Hilarious because it also is a good example of the ignorance of the same leaders. The Globe only publishes what its advertiser want to read, and they care little if that reflects the majority or the truth for that fact. What I find hilarious is that these advertisers pay the Globe to write what they want to read but the only people reading it are the advertisers. When I do read the Globe, if I find one laying in public, it makes me so mad I hold its advertisers partly responsible and refuse to patronize them. So what we have, essentially, is not a city paper, but a private paper whose purpose is to sell space to the same people that read it. They're paying to advertise to themselves.

| ok ...I got to go to work...... but this is very interesting.... and after calming down just a bit....re/ idiots/flag I think a discussion on the effects of TOTAL, clean up will need to be evaluated , not only for the Great State of Kansas and especially SW Kansas....and SC....TX.....and well.....every state for that matter..... so there has to be something in between ...... amnesty.......and ....clean out...that we all can live with....... DISRESPECT AND DEGRADING OUR GREAT AMERICA.....is not exceptable.....in any form.....ZERO TOLERANCE......now if you are legal....and a Citizen..... you have earned the right to bitch....but not to distroy..... I know our leaders are trying to work on that..... but in reality....they dont know what is going on .....not really.....they hear about it .... but dont live it.......so keep those cards and letters going in....daily bombard their email........have a good day..........
