The REAL reason for the protests.......

This was posted at the Dallas circus they tried to disguise as a "civil rights" issue.............. Tell me Illegeals don't vote............... If this don't tell ya they do.......... then you must be blind..................... I believe we can thank the Democrats for not being afraid to sell our country to get the power they want..................... Course Teddy would sell anything to cover and protect his ass....................

Voter fraud by illegals has been going on for years and for some reason the mainstream media doesn’t report on it. I guess it’s about political correctness, fear of being called racist or maybe because they know who is being voted for.

Like Ohio in 2004?

Oh heck, numerous dead people have voted in Chicago and Boston for years, the world has not come to an end. And if illegal and even legal aliens vote, and it's been documented they have but not in the numbers I perceive is being suggested, the bloc isn't big enough to make a difference. Tom Delay's continous reelection success in Texas ought to debunk that one.

Not saying it's right mind you.

Fraud can be found in all political parties, but I won’t go so far to say illegals don’t make a difference. In the clip below it says “illegal voters” but not “illegal alien voters. Given its California and favored a Hispanic candidate, it makes it very likely. Especially when you look at the numbers.

Quote:
Among the many abuses it has spawned, the Motor Voter law seems to have enabled illegal aliens to vote—for Democrats, evidence suggests. A 1996 INS investigation into alleged Motor Voter fraud in California's 46th congressional district discovered that "4,023 illegal voters possibly cast ballots in the disputed election between Republican Robert Dornan and Democrat Loretta Sanchez." Dornan lost by fewer than 1,000 votes. In 2002, Dean Gardner, a losing GOP candidate for California's state legislature, sent out a survey to 14,000 first-time voters. A total of 1,691 surveys came back. The results were startling: 76 people admitted that they weren't citizens but had voted, while 49 claimed not to have registered at their correct residence, as the law requires. Gardner lost by only 266 votes.

GOP leaders say they don't support legislation's tough language

http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/04/...ion/index.html

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The top Republicans in both the House and Senate are indicating they don't support language in an immigration bill that would make entering the country illegally a felony.

The proposal has drawn the ire of pro-immigrant groups that have staged a wave of protests in recent weeks.

The provision making illegal immigration a felony was contained in an immigration reform bill passed by the House in December. But in a joint statement issued Tuesday evening, House Speaker Dennis Hastert of Illinois and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee both indicated they wanted the language dropped.

Frist and Hastert also criticized House Democrats, who, they said, opposed efforts by Republicans to strip the provision from the bill before it passed.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
The "felony" part of this bill was what I liked about it.

Looks like the Repubicans know how to pander to voters as well as anyone.

The Republicans put it in and now want to take it out. The Democrats didn’t want it in and now don’t want it out. Sounds like an election year. Last week I posted…..

I predict the election this year will not be about Bush, Iraq or Beltway scandals. It will be about the immigration issue and how our congress critters voted.

Being here illegally is already a civil offense and coming back after being deported is already a felony. I’m not so hot on giving illegals free room and board at the crossbar hotel as I am to ship them back to make room for the ones in line to come in legally and sealing the border to stop it in the first place. If making the first offense a felony gives us a better tool to do that, fine. If not it’s just window dressing.

More on this story…

When you compare the CNN story with a similar story on FOX NEWS you get a different picture.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/04/...ion/index.html

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,191429,00.html

The CNN version offers…

Quote:
Jennifer Crider, a spokeswoman for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California, said "no amount of spin can change the fact that Republicans wrote and passed the Sensenbrenner bill, which criminalizes an entire population."

Crider also said Republicans "are feeling the heat" after demonstrations that brought out hundreds of thousands of protesters Monday at rallies in at least 140 cities in more than 39 states.
Over at FOX we find….

Quote:
The House bill including the unlawful presence provision passed in December by a vote of 239-182 largely along partisan lines: 203 Republicans were joined by 36 Democrats voting yes for the bill, and 164 Democrats, 17 Republicans and one independent voted no.

But Republicans say the partisan vote isn't representative of their feelings toward the felony provision in the House bill. Democrats defeated a Republican-led amendment that would have removed the felony provision, and Republicans say Democrats did it so they could have a political issue to use against the GOP.

Rep. James Sensenbrenner, chief sponsor of the House bill and chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, has said the felony provision will be removed once the Senate finishes its bill and the two houses go into negotiations to complete work on the bill.

"As far as those who remain in the country illegally being guilty of a felony, two-thirds or 70 percent of the Republicans in the House voted to make that a misdemeanor," while 191 Democrats "voted to keep it a felony so they could have this phony issue of that being a felony," Rep. Peter King told FOX News this week.

In their statement, Hastert and Frist said Democrats lack compassion and "voted to make felons out of all those who remain in our country illegally." They also blamed Reid for blocking action on immigration, although Reid has said he was trying to prevent a Republican-led effort to water down a compromise.

It was explained by Republican congressman Peter King in a TV interview today that the reason to have a misdemeanor instead of a felony is because it becomes cheaper and faster to deport with a misdemeanor. I can go along with that.

It's all Washington political jousting and the illegal aliens found an excuse to "make a party" from it all.
