| New stove for an apartment ??s I am getting a cook stove for an apartment and am wondering about cleaning the area below the gas burners when the tenant moves out; because I'm sure she never will... Any experience here on options to buffer spills for easier cleanup well into the future? I'm pondering finding some teflon material to place below the burners but on top of the metal panel... Silicone? Wax? Aluminium foil? .... anything to provide a molecular buffer betwixt the metal and the spilled substances such as Cellophane from old bologna, Rubbery, blubbery macaroni, Peanut butter, caked and dry, Curdled milk, and crusts of pie, Rotting melons, dried-up mustard, Eggshells mixed with lemon custard, Cold French fries and rancid meat, Yellow lumps of Cream of Wheat Let's face facts: with heat and time, grisly bits of beefy roast will weld itself onto where it lands and I don't want to have to chisel it off. Any Ideas?

| yeah Don't clean it - let the new tenants clean the stuff that is under the hood- that's what I do. I don't clean what I (or others) can't see. |

| If it was electric and the top was hinged, I might look into a couple of appropriate sized cookie sheets. That won’t work with gas because the burners are mounted on the panel. Probably aluminum foil. It’s cheap. Be sure there are no vents for the oven that might get blocked. You did get a large damage deposit I hope. Now were is that smiley that pukes when you need it.

| If it's gas OR electric - It ALL will weld to the surface when it gets hot enough. If you are a fanitic (like me) when it comes to stoves - clean it up real good and show the tenant how to acess the stove to do the same. If they want thier deposit - they will take the time to follow suit - if not - when they leave - at least you will feel like you are being paid when you chisel all that stuff off......... PS.... Foil get real ugly when it welds to the metal....but it is at least "some" protection. I just found it more trouble than it was worth. I would still try some foil oven liners if you dare.
