*help* Chair that needs recovered.

I recently bought an old chair at a garage sale. It was purchased in 1964 at nieman marcus and the wood on it is still very nice but it needs recovered. The filling on the cushion is down and needs to be cleaned. Does anyone know anyone that does reupholstering? (NOT THE GUY out on WEST wyatt earp...)

Thanks,

Thanks,
I don't know how confident you are in your ability with fabric, but stores such as Hobby Lobby sells an upholstry kit and it's not as hard as one thinks to do a basic reupholster. I did two wing back recliners earlier this year and ended up less than $100.

Really? I priced the material and the material alone is $21.99 a yard for what I want. I don't have much faith in my ability to do that but I guess I could try. Didn't know they sold kits but I shop there a lot. It just looks.....hard.

Oh I'll do it but I get to install the super secret neuro transfusion cushion. It'll insert grey matter into the black hole of a conservatives cranial area. You'll be enjoying micro brews, Jethro Tull, and questioning political authority in a matter of days. Out of respect that you have to make living in your present field however I will leave out the "question military authority" and "I like hillary cells"

That's some pricey material you like. I forgot that when perusing the stores for my chair project, they had a bolt remnant from a custom job they were just going to toss which cut my cost significantly.

I sweated out the few steps where I needed the sewing machine but practised a bit and thankfully they were inside seams. I took some grief for using a sewing machine from my buds but I got a new shotgun from the money I saved doing it myself or buying new ones.

You might also try some of the smaller schools. I don't know if they do reupholstering in their shop classes but it would be worth a try. I know Minneola has a wonderful shop class. My brother-in-law re-did our coffee table and it looks like a brand new table. They are going to do my mom's roll top desk next year as one of their projects. You might give them a call it may be worth it.

There is a man in Dodge that always did my parents' furniture. Did an awesome job! His name is Chuck Thomas. I'm not sure if he still does it, but last I heard, he did. Good luck!
