Let’s put an end to the noise

I have spent a lot of time and written many letters to the editor (that were never submitted), trying to come up with the most effective, tactful way to express and present my point of view concerning a certain attitude and behavior exhibited by an ever-increasing percentage of our growing population.

Did you find this irritating? Was this entertaining? If you asked someone else to read this the way you did, and they told you “NO,” would you then force them to do it anyway? And if they became angry with you for being so disrespectful and inconsiderate, would you completely ignore and disregard how they felt, shove these words in their face, insist that they tolerate it and yell at the top of your lungs while reading aloud every word over and over without stopping? What if this was done to you while you tried to sleep after a long, hard day at work? Or while spending a peaceful afternoon with your family after church? Or walking down the street? Or eating in your car at an A&W or a Sonic Drive-in? I could go on and on, but hopefully that isn’t necessary to get my point across.

For those of you who understand what I am talking about, let’s pursue the idea of a petition with the ultimate goal of passing laws that are then followed by responsible application toward putting an end to this maddening NOISE! And, out of respect for those that consider this noise music, please enjoy it with consideration and not as a violation.

Welp Matthew, I believe Dodge City already has a noise law to stop that menace to society and our law enforcement personnel are diligently enforcing it (in order to collect the huge fines).

Mayhaps I have that law confused with speed traps.

Dodge does have an ordinance for that. The police just can't be everywhere all the time....just like they can't catch all speeders they can't catch everyone with loud music.

How about a stiffer fine for noise pollution? We could defiantly use the extra income.

I used to have the accordian music goin at 2am when I lived in dodge..... I stuck my head out the door and pointed to my ear and pointed down........ never had another problem. My neighbors spoke no english but were very nice neighbors and have been there a long time. Don't know if they are legal - they are law abiding and good neighbors to me.

Course the crack heads down the street from me now do the same thing and they speak perfect english. No question they are legal.......... I finally had to go to the house and tell them to lose the boom on the street or get a visit from the PD........... I can hear the boom a block away but when they turn that corner....... it's gone........... works for me!! Course they don't want anymore visits than they have to have. They have plenty without any help from me........ LOL........... but oh how I hate the boom cars. I figger if they had a REALLY good system and done right - I wouldn't hear anything when thier windows were closed.

Saw a truck that was soundproofed - in Garden City I think it was......... course costs so much to do that......... very few do..........

145 watts per channel, 13 speakers, big open windows, a sunroof, and a barry manilow cd will shut them up really quick.

Yes, we do have a noise ordinance. I realize the police can not be everywhere, but when I am on Wyatt Earp (or any other street) and Five cars away from a loud stereo, it really upsets me to see an officer within the same radius doing nothing about it. I have witnessed it more than once. In order for it to be a violation, an officer MUST witness it or they do nothing. I know because I turn in my neighbors all the time, but they have a scanner and turn it down when the call goes out. Police drive by, dispatcher calls to say they did not hear anything. Then about 25 minute later, it starts again. There is no talking to them. They are just bad neighbors.

Sorry for the vent, but the stereo cut into my beauty sleep last night.
