I have known the 3 core members of OTC since they were in grade school. They are friends of my son. They all have had formal musical training through school band. I will agree that the drummer knows his stuff. In high school, these same kids were part of a school jazz group! The guitar player can actually play blues and can do a decent imitation of Jimi Hendrix.

Anyone who knows how to play an instrument can imitate someone else who plays the same thing with enough practice. The real judge of a good musician is someone who can either expand on what someone else has done, or come up with something totally new on their own.

Well, like I said before, they do play their own original music!

I shouldn't be so quick to judge I guess because you can't tell from a parade. I do think it takes some real courage to play your own music under those circumstances. Although, playing your own music today isn't near the risk it was years ago. It used to be we had to slip in one of our own between cover tunes. Maybe one a night or even one a set if you felt lucky.

I think a real test of a musician is not making a lot of fancy equipment sound good, which isn't hard to do, but making crappy equipment sound great. I will admit, however, its much funner with good equipment.

I've met a lot of guitar players over the years and it always cracks me up to hear some of them talk up their high dollar stuff. I had my share of high dollar guitars and amps and they do make sounding good easier, but I just love to see the look on their faces when I pull out my $150 Silvertone guitar and make it sound like $1000.

Texie is still down South, fighting the "hood"!!

Come on Muffie!! I used to play the organ all the time when I was a kid. My Mom could play up a storm, especially at church. I learned what I could from her, but gave it up for sports instead.

However, I still have roses on my piano!
