| Train Wreck? Did anyone hear of a train/automobile mishap late Friday night or early Sat morning? Someone told me they left Dodge on McArtor Rd and just west of Dodge they reported lots of cop cars, red lights going and what appeared to be a car on the tracks, or beside them. This would have been 9-8 or 9-9-06. I have checked Dodge Glob and Hutch News, Zilch-Zero...... Thanks, BB |

| Just from my observations (PD did not work the accident), it seems the driver of the auto mistook the railroad tracks for a paved road. The train struck the car and pushed it down the tracks about 100-150 yards. Since the train had just left Dodge, it was not traveling at anything close to a high rate of speed (thank goodness it wasnt AmTrak which comes through a bit later in the evening). The engineer stated that he saw the driver attempt to flag the train down before the accident and after the impact ran (stumbled) across the highway and into the trees. Im guessing (after looking in the vehicle, its less than a guess, but being required to be PC, since we didnt work the thing...) there was outside influences on the driver (beer?). No one was hurt, driver was not in the vehicle, vehicle was still running after the impact and music was still blaring. After making sure everyone was okay and that SO was on-scene, PD went back to town. P158 |

| It seems a car / train wreck is something that should be in the paper - just to refresh the brains of others to be aware of trains. Not to embarress or name anyone but just to say - HEY!!! There was a train/auto collision - be sure and pay attention - in case you may be getting alittle noncomplacent! They report every metro rail / auto crash in Houston - injuries or no.... just keeps it fresh on your mind - ya need to be careful! Glad no one was hurt! Welcome to DB.....BB AND - good info Lord!......

| The rails along McArtor are for "the little train that barely can" .... Maximum speed is 10 mph.... even in the country.

| Train Wreck Thanks everyone for filling me in. Yah, I got the sites mixed up. I should have known better, as someone going to Garden City probably would not go through Ensign, unless they were really mixed up. It was my mistake... At least I now know that there was an accident. Thanks again, BB |
