I know a lot about cats...

It is normal for a healthy cat to vomit occasionally. For example; after eating grass or to expel hairballs. Constant vomiting can indicate digestion of an irritant, fatty food, lactose intolerance or some sort of digestive disorder. The cat may have an obstruction in his intestines or could have FIE (Feline Infectious Enteritis) also known as Feline Panleukopenia. The cat could be suffering from FIV, FIP, or feline leukemia which is common to outdoor cats. Some cats are allergic to lactose, fish or eggs. The cat may have blocked bowels. Elderly cats, especially longhairs are the most likely to suffer from a blockage in the bowel due to constipation.

Some common poisons for cats include, sugars, chocolate, tomatos, onion. Dos the owner have a garden with flowers? There are many types of plants that are poisenous to cats.

Have you checked to see if the cat is having regular bowel movements?

Have you checked it's kidneys? It's kidney are directly below the ribcage on each side and should feel almost flat, with a slight rounding to them. A bulging or hard feel to the kidneys indicate kidney problems.

Let me ask you a few questions which will better help me to diagnose your cats problem:

How old is the cat?

Long hair or short hair?

Do you know the breed the cat is?

Does it eat hard food or soft food?

What do you feed it?

Does it get scraps?

Does it have fresh water all the time?

Do you give it milk?

Has the cat had any health problems?

How long has th been going on?

Does the cat have a metal or plastic bowl?

Is the cat an inside only cat, or does it go outside?

Has the cat experienced any of the following symptoms?

abdominal tenderness or pain
diarrhea
restlessness
blood in stool or urine
convulsions
lack of coordination
weakness
staggering
muscle twitches
lack of color in nose or gums

In any case, you should get the cat to a vet as soon as possible. For something like this, I would recommend Dodge City Vet Clinic because the have their own in house blood centrifuge and analysis system. Many local vets send the blood off to a lab to have it checked. DC Vet can have your results in about 18 minutes. The results of the tests can tell them if the cats enzyme levels are normal. From this they can diagnose, white blood cell count which can indicate an infection, kidney and liver enzymes that will indicate the health of those very vital organs. Whatever the case, the cat should be seen soon, or hepatic liver disease can result from lack of nutrition.

Wow, Tee must be a cat-lover. I'm going to bet with Hiwayman - I'm a dog person myself.

That's easy Dustin, send the cat back. Your friends problem will be solved.

With dogs you own them and they love you unconditionally, cats own you and if they don't get what they want they'll leave. Give me a dog any time over a cat.

Cats over 9 are considered geriatric and can develop digestive disorders rather easily.

A cat that is 14 can get nervous and suffer from vomiting after going through a change in lifestyle- such as a move, or a new pet, or new owner. Hepatic liver disease can be triggered by a change in diet or lack of adequate nutrition. You need to find out what she fed him and feed him the same thing. Cats get very accustomed to their food. The cat needs to be taken in for a blood test very soon, as many issues such as kidney or liver failure can be arrested by such medications as adenasyl (SaMe). Blood tests can range in costs from $25-$50.
