Well we should be at our goal, Me and my daughter just donated $130. That should bring the total to $1000.

If there is anything else we can do, we would be glad to help.

Unfortunately, with just moving into a new house, getting married, and trying to figure out all my finances on a civil servant salary for a family of 4, I will be doing good to be able to pay for a nice meal so my own kids dont go without on turkey day. I wish I could help.

What I can offer though is my prayers of thanks for good people like all of you. I know no one did any donating with the idea of being recognized for doing so...which shows just how good of a person all of you are. Bless you for all you did for the families of OUR community that you will touch this thanksgiving. My thoughts and prayers go out to you all. Bless you!

(And to get someone who is not real religious to say that is an accomplishment in itself!)

I see too many bad things in my line of work...so when I see a group of people such as you all come together in such a selfless way, it really makes me feel good and restores my hope and faith in this community. You all deserve a pat on the back for this.

I think you should get the pat on the back cause truth be known - you are probably gonna be on the beat - with a family waiting to do the meal when you can be there - or you are doing the holiday on a different day all together.,...... so while everyone else is enjoying the holiday on the right day....... often you (and me and mine) are celebrating 2 days early or late. This year since the son is on days........ turkey time will be on time on the right day. Christmas is still up in the air!!

So bless You................ for keeping my little neighborhood safe and my empty house from becomming a crack house while I'm gone.

Huge Thanks!!

THANKYOU ALL!

To all the members on DodgeBoard:

Most all of you contributed in one way or another; some with ideas on how to make this a success and other through generous financial contributions. I am excited to announce that we have reached our goal of raising 1000.00 to feed unfortunate families in our community that may not otherwise have been able to have a decent Thanksgiving.

My Promise: These funds will be used for food for Thanksgiving, directed to families that are truly in need of this help.

The Plan: Me and my sister in law will pick up the meals Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, and personally deliver them to the needy households. I will try and get some pictures of us in action to share with you.

Dillon's: I spoke to Dillon's manager, Moe today and they are going to see if they can raise some additional funds (between 100.00 and 400.00) to help with additional meals. This means that we should be able to reach 30 families.

We are just barely beginning to form the list of recipients. If any of our members personally knows of a situation that we should be aware of where a family is in need, please PM me.

My heartfelt appreciation goes out to everyone on DodgeBoard. Through our numbers of good people we have accomplished some very great deeds in our community, even if we are an anonymous bunch!

Sincerely, Tee

Send one over to NLIRG, and some of the other officers. I appreciate all the hard work that they do, and they don't get paid nearly enough for what they are worth! If you don't believe this, ride along with them some nite. (Do they still have that program, Radio?) Used to on the County, but don't know on the City. At THANKSGIVING, a big THANK YOU to you and your fellow crew, NLIRG!

I couldn't agree more. I think our PD FD EMS that can't be at home with their families on Turkey Day all deserve a good hot meal.

Thanks for the nice comments guys...They really are appreciated! As far as sending the guys on duty one of the dinners from here, I think that is a good idea (I actually would have been one of the guys working but was fortunate enough to be able to ask for the day off). However, you might want to just offer it first and see if they would be interested. Cops normally dont like taking anything free from any body - just how we are! All the guys working - well, cept one I think - live in town and I am sure will get the chance to sneak away for some turkey with their family. Turkey day is traditionally not a really high crime day, and not a whole lot of traffic to pull over!

I wish we still did have the ride along program, but the city's insurance wont allow it any more. If you are interested in law enforcement and would like to ride along, enroll in the citizens police academy the next time it is held. It is an opportunity to learn the basics of what we do and witness it first hand.

Just to give you an idea...

Who's on the list so far?

Only five selections at this time:

Single mother, poverty stricken w/3 boys, one has severe illness, severely behind in rent and utilities, not on assistance.

Single woman, recently lost husband, inandated with bills and struggling to survive, not on assistance at this time. She will be alone this year for the first time. (smaller sized meal)

Family: Husband disabled due to recent accident, elderly parents live with the family, has three kids, and wife works three jobs to make ends meet. Struggling to survive. Doesn't have two red cents to rub together.

Single mother, two kids, very little assistance but works at very low pay job, with the mentally retarded. Both kids have medical issues. Struggling to keep up with bills, behind in rent. No money for Thanksgiving.

Elderly couple still living in home, no children. Unable to cook or afford Thanksgiving dinner, both have severe health issues, one with cancer. Probably last Thankksgiving together. Only income Soc Sec.
