| One thing I can tell you is you can't play online games, that require interaction with others, very well on satellite(dish) Internet. The way I understand it is there is a 3-4 second delay on a satellite connection. 3-4 second delay in the game I play equals dead player.

| We have dish as far as our TV goes. We like the Dish better except during bad weather, Dish will fade in and out to retrieve satellite. Price wise we are paying $70 a month for the top120 plus 2 movie package. We was paying $50 a month for the 65 channels on cable and had crapy service. Like Dish better for price and service, my opinion.

| I know that when you sign up for dish network they always give you "introductory pricing" so you think you are paying a lot less than you did for cable. But, in reality after the introductory price expires you pay about the same or a little more for the dish. I don't know what the current pricing is at dish but I can tell you what I paid on my cable bill this month. COX LIMITED BASIC .............................................11.00 COX EXPANDED SERVICE .......................................32.15 HBO .................................................. .................7.00 DIGITAL GATEWAY .................................................6 .00 SPORTS & INFO TIER .............................................4.00 VARIETY TIER .................................................. ......4.00 STARZ .................................................. ..............11.50 Cox Digital Video Recorder Service .............................4.95 DIGITAL CONVERTER-DVR/HD.....................................9.95 FCC FEE .................................................. ..............0.06 Total Monthly Cable Service ....................................90.61 I also have cox high speed internet 41.95 You should notice that on my cable I have HBO and all the Starz & Encore channels that I pay extra for. I also have High Definition service with a DVR. It is also digital cable and there are around 150 channels. The picture at my house is great even when not on HD channels, and I very seldom have problems even in bad weather. The Hi-Def channels that I get are FOX, ABC, NBC, CBS, HBO, STARZ, ESPN, DISCOVERY, INHD1 and INHD2, UNIVERSAL HD, MTV, and a couple of others that I don't watch much. No matter what service you get, I would recommend the DVR, I love it! I never had dish network but had the similar directv. I can remember if it rained to hard or if it snowed and the snow collects on the dish you lose your picture. It is always fun going out in the middle of the snowstorm with a broom to try and clean the snow off the dish!

| I know the guy who used to be the General Manager for TCI in Dodge City long ago, and when Cox took over they asked him to stay on. He decided to quit insetad. I asked him why, and he told me that he "didn't want to work for those soul-less people" and that they were just out for their own bottom line, not caring about the customer. I don't know if that helps... Just my two cents. |

| I used to work at TCI!

| So did I. One of the youngest guys ever hired there I think... I was 18 when I worked there for a VERY short time. The guy I am talking about in the above post was Bob. Remember Bob? |

When he was there, cable was crummy, analog, with only one station in stereo. They refused to get updated modulators to handle stereo signals so a few of us rallied the city to deny the franchise agreement. It was then that the city exerted their power of them and forced them to upgrade, otherwise they wouldn't allow them to use their poles. Bob moved on a year or two later. That was back in the early 90's.
