| you can contact DISH Network -- Home direct they have a pretty good deal going right now, or do a search on Google for "dish network Kansas" and you will find a lot of sites that do installs in Kansas. Make sure you get the DVR upgrade once you have it you won't want to go back.

| Hey Army, you 13 series person. Had Dish network in the early days, was not pleased with it. Went to Direct TV, love it, no problems. |

| I had Directv in the early days did not like it, they did nothing but hassle me changed to Dish and had nothing but good video, I think dish has one of the best DVRs. So I guess it's up to you.

| Had dishnetwork for 2 years now, been happy, and don't plan on changing. Good video, decent customer service, and once you use thier dvr, you can't beat it.

| I like my cable where I don't lose my picture when there is a big rainstorm or snowstorm. Yes, I know this is Kansas and we don't get much moisture, but it always seemed to happen that a rain or snowstorm would come when there was something I just had to see was on TV. Like, a big snowstorm on New Years Day when you are trying to watch the big bowl game, but are instead outside sweeping the snow off of your dish so that you can hopefully get a picture on your big screen that you invited all your friends over to watch the big game on.

| I personally had better luck with DN, rather than cox when it came to storms. The only times I had problems with my dish, is when we had 30-50 mph winds, or extremely heavy rain. But my cox would go out sometimes when the wind was only 15-20. Also, dish placement is a factor sometimes too. Mine was on the back of the house, so the wind wasn't hitting it all the time. But, with the smaller dish's, and the mounting system, they don't move as much as you might think. They stay pretty steady. And, you can't beat the price right now. My bill's currenlty 43 dollars, and that's with a dvr. To get a similar setup thru cox, would be 75 a month.

| This goes for Directv or Dish If you get a quality dish, (elliptical, with multiple LNB's) and you get it tuned right (95%-100%) then you wont have many outages. Poorly tuned dishes can lose signal with a slight overcast, while dishes tuned to near 100% wont lose a signal even in heavy storms. To properly tune a dish, it must be well grounded and on a very stable stand. My dish is tuned to 100%. I have only lost a signal once in the past year and that was just for a few seconds during a horrific storm. Now, that is way better than cable- they have more outages than that. However, my brothers dish is tuned at like 78% and he loses signal at the beginning of every storm. I have tried tuning his dish (round) several times but cannot achieve a better signal. I am guessing that it is either warped, or just a cheap dish.
