I remember that place always being packed before the fire, it just went kindof downhill after he rebuilt. It's a shame, that place was great, I'm always getting heartbroken guests returning to Dodge hoping to have dinner at Freighthouse. He did an awesome job with the inside, I liked that there was a train cart you could eat in!! That was pretty original
As for the guy from Ruiz Auto, I was told he was supposed to open some sorts of sports bar/sandwich shop/i can't remember what else where the furniture store was on 2nd, maybe he's opening it there instead. Sounds like a decent idea. I've had my car fixed there a few times he's a great guy (sorry can't remember his first name)

The Freighthouse (phase 2) got hammered by the coincidence of their re-opening at the same time as applebee's rise from the dust of Boot Hill's waste land. Typical Dodge... local restaurant gets beat by national chain that was given 'free' city parking lot.

That applebee deal wouldn't have happened if it would have been a (less than well positioned) local entreprenuer wanting that prime location.

The real problem with the Freighthouse' is location X 3.

I would like a good seafood place also. Everyone is sick of illegals but this issue has NOTHING to do with illigals. A family from Dodge City that happen to be of Hispanic origin... (LOCAL OWNERS..isn't that what we want??) are trying to open a business and 1st thing out of someone's lips is "another taco wagon and auto body shop"....before they have a clue about what they are going to do with the place....I just thing it's incredibly narrow and bigoted for them to even assume that........
