I heard my faint heartbeat again. Is this true? Please tell me it is.

What I heard is true, a mexican american family that been in this town for many years is opening it up.The Ruiz Family I do believe is the ones that bought it, the wife used to work for Big Brothers, and her husband as Ruiz auto repair, and other family is also involved.

Freighthouse

Just what we need is another taco wagon with a car and body shop side by side. We need to wake up and smell the BEEF not the BEANS.

I heard that it had been sold by the bank. Not sure of the new owners, but Brownsugar is probably correct. I am glad that it is going to be put to good use, as the prior owner has put alot of hard work into it. We need occuppied buildings, not vacant ones.

What the hell??? Could you be ANY more stereotypical??? For one thing the people opening up the place are as American as you and I. They are just of Hispanic decsent. Why would you assume that since they are of hispanic heritage that it will be a "taco wagon and body shop"....that is just utterly ridiculous and ignorant. MAYBE they are going to open a business that will do better than the LAST people that ran it. IF that business was so great WHY are they not still open....maybe they made too much money and retired?!?

AND in case you haven't checked lately the population in Dodge City is well over 50% Hispanic so you will so a LOT more business's catering to the popultion. This is just common sense.....

And who is "WE"......about waking up and smelling the BEEF and NOT the beans. Personally I enjoy both. Maybe YOU should wake up to reality and step into the 21st century and leave the stereotypes and racism in the 60's.

Owwww Owwww....... gee somebounny woke up on the wrong side of the bed today!! - Easy mistake to make - giving the dynamics of Dodge these days. Course we need tolerance for all - myself tho I'm pretty sick of the illegals and the open border that welcomes them - that altho is another thread. I think (mind you I said think) that OldHag was just saying any new business seems to be a taco wagon or auto body shop. I vote for a really good seafood place - RIP LJS............ I feel for ya'll havin no really good fresh seafood - nuthin like a good surf and turf!

In case you didn't know, Army. The former owner of the Freighthouse put his life's savings and persoanl efforts into remodeling the old freight building into the restaurant and club. Then, shortly after he opened and had built a good business, it got burned down by some Hispanics. It was one helluva fire. He tried to rebuild again, but I think it just finally got to him. And as far as OldHag, I don't think she meant it like you are taking it---that's my opinion anyway. Futhermore, I have alot of AMERICAN CITIZEN friends that are of HISPANIC descent, and most of them are more aggravated with the "Invasion" than we are!

I forgot when it burned down.... yeah that was a blaze....... they sure had good food!........... knew that wouldn't last. Just a shame - great atmosphere as well. Hope the new owners can make a go of it!!
