| The electricity has been off in a major portion of Dodge, north central to north west, since O dark thirty until just a few minutes ago. If there is no electricity, the battery back-up for the cable will only last a couple of hours and then the rest of the city that has electricity will lose their cable because of no electricity. I had cable when I went to bed at 3am. Woke up to go to the bathroom when it was still dark, I'm guessing 6:30am, and had no electricity. I went back to bed until 10am, then went driving around to see how many were without power. Looks like if you lived east of 6th you had power, if you lived south of Earp you had power. My house got down to 60 degrees inside with no power. The power came back on about 2:30pm, so now I have my heater on full blast. The ice really did a number with down trees, down power lines, etc....Oh, and I really doubt that you will get a credit on your cable bill for an "act of God."

| This probably isn't the thread to post this inquiry, but I will ask anyway. I have SBC for my telephone and internet service. I have not had a phone for 24 hours, but my internet is great. Does this make since, or should I see if I have a telephone problem in the house. We did just 2 days ago add new cordless phones in the house, but before the phone service quit.

| didn't know you had ice............ course if you don't have power your not gonna get cable. altho if i had power and no cable - yes they will credit you for the time you were out - they did it for me before. We also get credit when the dish is out - you pay for 24 / 7 - If you don't have service the time will be creditited. Least they did when I was there......... and they do here too........... but ya gotta have pwer............

| Sorry to hear it. Nothing's worse than not having power. Seems we've gotten so used to it, we can't survive without it. Glad it came back on - at least for Bubba. 60 degrees? You big baby!

| I already said it in another post, but my cable got knocked off the house the night before last, still had power tho. They came and fixed it this morning at about 10:30....other than that it's all good over here on Avenue P.

I suggest unplugging everything including DSL filters from all phone jacks and trying one known good standard phone and check for dial tone. Try more than one jack if the first one doesn’t work. If you get dial tone, then plug in one thing at a time checking for dial tone each time. If you plug in something that kills dial tone, that should be the offending device. I have in the past went to the box where the line comes into the house (the demark) and disconnected the incoming line from the box and used jumper wires to attach a phone. There is polarity and it won’t hurt anything if you get it reversed so try both ways if it doesn’t work the first time. If you get dial tone at the wire but not in the house, it’s in the house. If you don’t get tone at the wire, it’s a phone company problem. BTW, the phone company ALWAYS assumes that the trouble is on your end.

| 60 is pretty cold when you are used to 70, and it's only 28 outside.

| Yeah... I'm chuckling... hubby actually likes it at 60. Cuddled in the blankets, it's not too bad. It's when you step your foot out on the floor it gets a little cold!
