CONCEALED-CARRY RULES
Here are some basic rules included in the concealed-carry law.

• When asked, you must tell a law enforcement officer whether you have a conceal-carry permit. In some cases, the officer may ask where the weapon is or ask you to keep your hands visible.

• Even with a permit, guns aren't allowed in schools, day cares, churches, government buildings, athletic events, psychiatric hospitals, any place with a no-guns sign posted, and bars and restaurants that have more than half of their sales in alcohol products.

• It's a misdemeanor to carry a concealed weapon if you're under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

• It's a misdemeanor to carry your weapon without your permit. You do not need to carry the permit when you don't carry your gun.

• Employers can decide whether they want to ban employees from carrying guns at work, and businesses can decide whether to allow people to carry guns in their store or office.

• You can be denied a permit for many reasons, including having a felony conviction, being mentally ill, having a drug conviction in the past five years, being committed for alcohol abuse during the past five years or being convicted two or more times for DUI in the past five years.

TOPEKA, Kan. - Nearly 3,000 Kansas residents will be able to get their photos taken for their concealed-carry permits this week after receiving notice from the state that they have been approved to carry concealed weapons.

Last week the state mailed notices to 2,981 applicants telling them they have met the criteria for the permits.....
