| Telephone tax refund/FYI Telephone Excise Tax Refund The Telephone Excise Tax Refund (TETR) is a one-time payment available on your 2006 federal income tax return. It is designed to refund previously collected long distance telephone taxes. Individuals, businesses and tax-exempt organizations are eligible to request it. Taxpayers have a choice: a standard refund amount between $30 and $60, based on the total number of exemptions claimed on their 2006 tax return, to eliminate the need to locate old phone bills; or they can locate those bills and use the actual amount. | I just filed my taxes today and she told me about that!! I don't have a home phone just a cell phone so it doesn't apply to me

| Wow..you didn't let any grass grow on filing the taxes...LOL. I don't file until April because I usually have to pay so I wait as long as I can to give Uncle Sugar his cut.

| Me too Army........always paying, never getting a refund. I printed this for my tax accountant; you would hope they would know about it, but better to be safe than sorry!

| That is the golen rule of taxes....if you get money back-file as soon as possible, if you owe taxes-wait until April 15th to send it in.

| I usually get some back from federal, mainly because of the mortgage interest deduction, and break even with the state.
