| Sick Puppy lurker's sick with a cold. Is anyone else fighting one? What'cha taking for it? My symptoms started showing Thursday as a slight cough with some sinus draining and has progressed to a deep barking cough with some production. Slight aching with no fever. It is contagious so wash yer paws alot and keep the butt sniffing down to phone searches only.

| same here Lurker. Mine started Thursday night as well. I am doing nyquil at night. Theraflu in the day. Working pretty good for me. I started taking vitamin A as sson as I felt sick and I think that helps me get over it quicker and keeps my symptoms from getting too bad. I am getting better as of today. |

| Awwww - I'm sorry you two are sickly. One thing, though - did you take the flu shot this year? I haven't, but if it's headed this way, I might try to get one tomorrow from my doctor.

| no flushot this year. I would like to get one though but I know you can't if you are sick. How late do they give them, and where? |

| Somebunny else is gonna have to answer you about where - they have clinics at most of othe drug stores up here (Osco, Walgreen) and my employer brings in a nurse with enough vaccine for all of us. He pays for it. Your choice whether to get the shot or not. But since everybody's had such a hard time getting enough vaccine this year, we've had to put it off 3 times. I think there isn't going to be one at the office this year. Darn it. It was just so convenient! I'm the same way - recovering from another infection, so can't get it right now, but would really like to beat the flu this year. It's usually no fun and our year is going to finish very busy at work. No time to be sick!!! Take care - eat lots of chicken-noodle soup. Make a grilled cheese or two. Stay home and warm and watch TV!

| I've had the hacky cough thing for 6 weeks. I take cough syrup with codiene at night and any decongestant during the day. Vicks just always makes me feel better and who could live without Nyquil?? I heard a news report that said there is a resurgence of Pertusis (whooping cough) among adults. They are considering revacinating for pertusis amongst adults. So Lurker if ya got that "bark" cough ya need to have it checked out so you don't spread it to other adults and children. Flu shots can be given so long as you are not "acutely" ill. That means temp of 101 or higher. If you have a mild infection it's OK to get shot so long as you are not running a high fever. You can check on CDC website for their take on it. We follow the CDC guidelines. If you are haviing trouble finding flu shots check with your local Health Dept. They ususally are the "lead agency" for flu shots - not your local MD. If all else fails - come down and see me I just got 200 doses in my clinics. The problem with the shots is not production it's distribution. There is no shortage of Fluzone. I took the Pneumonia shot this year as well - I still havent gotten sick enough to miss work and I wasn't feeling "the best" when I took it but I didn't want to wait much longer for either of the shots. The flu shots are only good for about 6 months and some folks the shot doesn't work at all. Pneumonia is good for 5 years as long as your under 65 yo - then it's good for life. Fluzone (the flu shot) this year has antigens for 3 strains of Influenza. 2 type A - 1 type B.........remember there are lots of different strains. So ya can still get the flu. Achiness and fever are the difference between a cold and the flu..........bundle up, get your shots, cough into Kleenix, wash your hands, and stay healthy!!..........And for DOGS sake stay away from Lurker's house........he sounds contagious........

| We get flu shots at work paid for by our employer. Last year it was canceled due to shortage this year we got them at the Ford County Health Dept. about a month ago. The cost was $18.00.

| Hey that's $2 cheaper than us.......CVS,Walgreens,and others are chargin 25 to 30 - so ya'll got a bargin. Don't forget Medicare pays for either shot, and some ins will reimburse ya if ya have the Mfg, lot # and proof of shot.

| I do think that our medical insurance does help to pay for ours, they consider it preventive medicine that could save them money later if we don't get sick.
