| I don't know whether to be happy that others are experiencing the same problems or sad that docs here in DC are like that. My cat gets better treatment! I wonder if the vet would take a look... |

| You can go up to Lawrence/KC and get your teeth cleaned during "Febuary is Dental Month" for small animals.![]() My daughter is a Vet tech there and they have done root canals on the "family" pet before. The prices up there are far more costly then here. We took my pomerian to her clinic for some tests and they wanted to do lab on her. My daughter called me to see if it was ok. I'd asked her how much it would be and IF the lab people came up to draw the blood , it would be around $100.00 BUT if she did it and took it to the lab, (in the same clinic), it would be around $40.00. I told her, get your butt moving cause I'm not paying big $$$. I couldn't have asked for better service from her doctors (vets). The vet that seen my dog, specializes in Internal Medicine and her husband, who's also a vet, specializes in Neurology. This is just 2 of the different specialities in her clinic/hosp. My daughter works with the hubby and my 2nd daughter, who also lives & works (she's a RN) in the KC/Lawrence area, baby sits for their kids. So I was very lucky and the "price was right".

| Deuce91, Like you, Dr. Astleford is my dentist. You are right about how far in advance a person must make an appointment. It can be up to six months. Brad has always told me that if I have problems let him know and he'd work me in. Well, on one occassion I took him up on his offer. I had a tooth ache that would make Jesus Christ cuss. He got me in the very next day. He has even seen my wife on week-ends because she called him at home. I think that a person would be hard pressed to find another dentist as caring as Brad. If I were you, I'd stick with Dr. Astleford! I'm sure there are other good, caring dentist out there, but as for me...I'll stick with him. |

| Supply and demand. This is just another example of the price we pay here in dodge of our "quality of life." In the medical profession, be it a dentist or surgeon, setting up a practice is a matter of choice. The key is to attract good doctors and lets face it we aren't that attractive at the moment. I think a casino will help change that. I'm guessing close to 70%, if not more, of our local medical patients are non-Americans. The vast majority have no insurance and are self-pay if they pay at all. Conditions are not that favorable in dodge to attract high quality doctors. I agree with OLDHAG that Dr. McFadden is good and so far I've been able to get in on little notice. That will probably change if it hasn't already.

| I had a billing mess with Dr. McFaddens office. After not filing the correct forms with the Insurance, they turned a $60.00 bill over to collections. I contacted them and told them to file it with the Insurance and so they filed it...with the court. Took me years to get that blemish off my credit report. They are JERKS!! I'll never go back there, no matter how good or fast they are!!! I go to DC Dental and have never had a problem.
