Local Dentists

I go routinely to Dr. Astleford and have for years to get my teeth cleaned and a check-up. However, my job doesn't allow me to have concrete plans, as I may have to go out of town or something at the last minute. That was the case with my last appointment. However, when I called to reschedule, they told me they were booking out 4 months in advance! I like him alot and I appreciate his attentiveness to me. But, I have Delta Dental Insurance and had to use up one of my visits I pay for. So, I called Dodge City Dental up on 14th. They were only booking a week in advance. So, I set up an appointment there.

However, I've never been so neglected in my life. I was told my appointment time. I showed up 10 minutes beforehand knowing I would have paperwork and such to fill out. Then, they told me it would be a while since I came sooo early. I asked what time they had me scheduled and never did get an answer. Next, they called me by my wrong name, which I promptly correctly. I sat in the dentist chair and hygenist began. They cleaned the teeth wonderfully. I was quite happy with that aspect. However, the doctor left for lunch and left me sitting in the chair waiting to be checked. After 30 minutes of waiting patiently, the hygenist saw me sitting there and asked if everything was OK. I said no and that the doctor had not been in yet. She quickly got another doctor in which looked at my teeth for less than 30 seconds and said all is good.

So, now I'm in a pickle. Do I go back to either or do I try someplace else and hope for better results? Do y'all know of any good dentists in DC or surrounding locales? Any constructive advise appreciated!

Ya know there was a time when I needed a dentist and was waiting for insurance to kick in. I went to the dentist across from Heatlands. He's older and worked with me on payment. He did all he could for me but I wound up at an oral surgeon. He was promt, kind and I never forgot his kindness. Don't know what his name is but his heart is in his business. His office is that little area of offices right next to the bank if I remember right.

Which bank? I was looking for a new dentist as well! We also have Delta Dental and it only accepts members of that plan. Aren't they all members of that plan?

I go to the DC Dental Care and love it I never had the problem of waiting for so long to see the Dentist. They always get me right in and out (even when I have to have a filling uggh!) The only problem I have noticed is that you can't get used to the same assistant as they never seem to stay by the next 6 month checkup. But in all I have had no problems with them.

I think he retired - I went to him a few times while pregnant - He was the only one who would help with a filling.

I stopped bothering with Dentist(s) in Dodge. I started going to Garden. I couldn't wait months to have a tooth yanked.

Seems like the Dentists and the Doctors in Dodge City must all have it made by "feeding" upon us. Most of them only work 4 days a week, so they can take off Fridays. Then, on top of that, alot of times they are gone for vacations, meetings, trips, etc. I know when I try to get an appointment at some offices, the quickest appointment that i can get is like 6 months away!! I was recently forced to go out of town to get an appointment for a medical problem, as I could not wait until September to see a Doctor. Actually, the out of town Doctor was better, more thorough, and works me in if I have an immediate problem!!
