Calling home

If you go to Bill O’Reilly’s site and take a 10 question quiz AT&T will send a 20 minute phone card to our troops in Iraq.

I'd bet Sgt. T and most others use VOIP instead of switched circuit.

Lurker,
VOIP yes, for mil to mil calls in theater. But to call the states, we still go either DSN (Defense Switched Network) or AT&T to the states. Skype and stuff like that is nice, but the bandwidth here is like dental floss. Like, none. As far as calling the states, I can go DSN to the nearest base, but if I want to call my grandma back in Dodge... $3.00 a min.

Damn, at that price I'd write a letter! They don't do free calls home at all? By the way your little baby is adorable. I have one that just turned 3 months. I don't know how you do it being away...I know it's hard. Hell I can't wait to get home at night to see her. Keep up the good work!!!

There appears to be no limit to how many times you can access it, too - I've beat the odds twice, but I also missed the same question twice. Sometimes I just don't get it, I guess!

I think the test is about who's really payin attention to Bill - not whose footin the bill for a phone call...................... sponsors what a lovely thing.

Remember when Oprah's sponsors put wheels under everyone??........... wow - now that's a sponsor!!

AT&T has made a nice jesture tho - it won't be any $$ from them and Bill will know if his audience is payin attention. Hell that was like a the TAKS test!! LOL I don't watch everyday but still sucked 7 out of 10!!

Thanks Hiway - I had fun!! and it's for an awsome cause.............. now Sgt T - call mamma!!!!
