Has anyone heard how Danny Treant is doing? Hubby told me he was hurt pretty badly in the Greensburg tornado. Was wondering how he is doing.

Last I heard, not too good. Danny's family did not have a basement to flee to and Danny used his body to sheild his family. Unfortunately he was speared throught the chest with a shard from a 2X4 and it severed his lung and a couple vertabrea. He is still in the hospital as far as I know. He has been going back and forth from stable to critical and recently had to revisit surgery to close another hole in his lung.

He is a true hero and his family could use our prayers.

I've known Danny for many years. He's a hell of a good guy, and a hero to his family. I wish only the best for him. He is a fighter but this is one hell of a fight.

My brother and Danny lived together for a couple of years after they graduated high school and he has been keeping in touch with Danny's mom and actually got to talk to Danny yesterday (6-27-2007). Danny is no longer in the hospital but a rehab center. Brother said that Danny sounded in good spirits and if things keep progressing he may get to go home sometime next week. He also reported that he has lost about 45 pounds.

Hi All!

From a family member....Dan is doing fantastic! He was not speared by a 2x4 but he was hurt pretty badly. His lungs were punctured and he fractured two bones in his neck and two in his lower back. He's been fighting off infections in his lungs, and that's what really had kept him down. He has lost around 50 pounds but he's doing really well and we hope to bring him home around the 6th of July. Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers!

I saw this same article in the Star this morning. Different pics, but same article. The man is showing some gut strength - I don't know that I'd be able to pull myself up and heal again.
