Motorcycle safety

I would like to get a motorcycle endorsement for my license any ideas what all needs to be done according to the KSREVENUE website Kansas Department of Revenue - Frequently Asked Questions - Motor Vehicles - Driver's License
they require a skills test/or a motorcycle safety course, I know they used to do the safety courses in Dodge, but haven't seen anything on that in a long while! Do they do the skills testing in Dodge at the License place in the mall? ( I think they used to do it, then quit doing it, now maybe doing them again?) anybody know on this?
thanks

Yes theydo the test at the mall. Written and Skill if you want to call it that. Make sure they give you the right hand book for the test they are giving. They gave me the wrong book for the new test they were giving. Questions were way off base for the book I studied. I complained to them about it and she said they had just changed the test and she had not had time to check it out to see if it agreed with the book. The skill test is rather easy and is given in back of mall.
Hutch gives a class on motor cycle riding. It is 2-8 hour days and I think it is on a Sat. & Sun. If you go down to Dodge City Harley they used to have a schedule of what week ends it is given. Hope this helps.

I just got my licenses upgraded to (M)otorcycle last month on my birthday.

I went to the office downstairs at the Mall and just as you walk in the door are the manuals. Including Motorcycle. I read through it once then went back and took the test and passed. The driving test was given in the back parking lot at the mall.

I'm giggling. So they gave you the wrong book to take your open book test? How rude! Just one question - are driving rules updated each time a book is printed? I don't understand - how can it NOT agree? There's just one way to pass another car, right? And you still have to have your headlights on at the same time, right? So why the need for editions? Just curious...

You have to answer the questions the way they want them, not what is correct! Anybody ever took the CDL test with all of the endorsements??

It does seem to contradict itself.

It starts off by saying a motorcycle occupies the same space on the road as a car. The same 2 second rule when following applies. Then when it gets to the group riding it say no side by side riding. Instead you stagger.

Unlike other vehicles a motorcycle has 3 positions in a lane. Left, middle and right. You can change positions at will to give you the best visibility and comfort or reaction time. When riding in a group it say the first rider uses the left position followed by the second rider 1 second behind in the right position. Then followed by the third rider 2 seconds behind the first rider in the left position.

I've always said that Kansas needs tomake it tougher to get a DL.

The test is easy and far too many people get their DL who should be peddling a bike.
